The Panerai Luminor Marina PAM01117 does not come with proof that it will last for the full natural life of every owner. It was introduced in 2020 with a 70-year warranty claim, but a warranty is a contractual promise governed by its terms—not a prediction of how long a watch will physically survive. Whether an individual example is still covered depends on its certificate and warranty status.
Does the PAM01117 have a lifetime guarantee?
No. Panerai’s official history page identifies the PAM01117 as a 44 mm Luminor Marina and says it has a 70-year warranty. That is a notably long stated warranty, but it does not establish that the watch will last for an owner’s natural life, nor that every example remains covered today. The watch’s original certificate and its complete model-specific terms were not available in the sources confirming the claim.
A warranty concerns specified remedies for qualifying defects under stated conditions. It is different from a guarantee that a mechanical watch will never fail, need service, or remain in working order for a particular number of years. No reliability study, failure-rate data, or service-life estimate establishes that the PAM01117 will physically last 70 years—or any owner’s lifetime.
What is known about the 70-year warranty?
Panerai’s Chinese-language official history page says the PAM01117 “享有70年质保,” meaning that it enjoys a 70-year warranty. Swisswatches Magazine’s 2020 launch coverage likewise reported the 70-year warranty and said it was governed by the terms and conditions of the International warranty. These sources support the existence of the launch-era claim, but they do not provide the full model-specific certificate terms.

Panerai’s current US FAQ describes general warranty terms: a 24-month warranty against manufacturing defects from purchase when the warranty card is signed by an authorized dealer. It excludes wear and tear and damage from inappropriate handling, and says third-party repairs or service by providers not authorized by Panerai invalidate coverage. The FAQ also describes Pam.Guard as an extension of the International Limited Warranty for up to eight years, subject to restrictions. These are general current US FAQ statements; they should not be treated as a substitute for the PAM01117’s special launch-era warranty certificate.
How to check a specific PAM01117
- Find the original warranty certificate and card for the watch. Check the stated start date, duration, conditions, and any owner or transfer provisions.
- Contact Panerai with the watch’s details and ask whether that specific example has active coverage and what terms apply.
- Before arranging repairs or service, confirm with Panerai which service providers preserve any remaining warranty coverage.
What kind of watch is the PAM01117?
The PAM01117 is a 44 mm Luminor Marina introduced in 2020. Swisswatches Magazine’s launch report described a micro-sandblasted titanium case measuring 44 mm across and 15.65 mm high. It reported an automatic Panerai P.9010 movement with a 72-hour power reserve, displaying hours, minutes, small seconds, and the date.
Rank #2
- Round watch featuring corrugated unidirectional bezel, luminous hands/markers, and magnified date window at 3 o'clock
- 40 mm, Length: 210mm, 23k gold-plated stainless steel case with mineral dial window. Movement Caliber: NH35A
- Japanese automatic movement with analog display
- Gold & Stainless steel tone bracelet with foldover clasp with safety closure
- Water resistant to 200 m (660 ft): In general, suitable for professional marine activity and serious surface water sports, but not scuba diving.
The same launch report gave a water-resistance rating of 30 bar, approximately 300 m. That is the published rating, not a recommendation to take a decades-old watch into water without an inspection of its seals and condition.
Launch configuration
- Blue Sportech strap and an additional rubber strap were reported as supplied.
- A dedicated strap-changing tool was also reported as included.
- The launch edition was limited to 270 pieces and exclusive to Panerai boutiques at launch.
- The caseback was reported to carry the inscription “70 Years Warranty.”
These are launch-era details reported by Swisswatches Magazine on 24 April 2020; they do not establish present-day availability, condition, or the contents of every pre-owned example.
