The Officine Panerai Radiomir 1940 3-Days PAM00627 is a 45 mm stainless-steel automatic GMT watch, introduced in 2016 with a textured dial, date, small seconds and a 72-hour power reserve. This review draws on Robert-Jan Broer’s hands-on article, published November 16, 2016; its wrist-fit and wearability comments are his impressions, not a new hands-on assessment. The $11,700 price he reported was the model’s retail price in 2016, not a current quote.
What is the PAM00627?
Broer’s Fratello review says Panerai introduced the PAM00627 at SIHH in January 2016. It belongs to the Radiomir 1940 design family and combines a polished stainless-steel case with a self-winding movement and GMT display. The model’s name includes “3-Days” because its reported power reserve is 72 hours.

Case and wrist fit
The review lists a 45 mm polished stainless-steel case and polished bezel, with built-in lugs and a relatively small crown. Broer says the watch felt comfortable on his wrist and looked smaller than a 44 mm PAM000 he remembered wearing. Those are personal impressions, not a fit guarantee: wrist shape, strap choice and individual preference all affect how a 45 mm watch wears.

Dial and indications
The dial’s subtle Clous de Paris texture is also called hobnailing. It combines luminous Arabic numerals and baton markers in a faux-patina color with a central arrow-shaped GMT hand. The remaining displays are a date, small seconds, and an AM/PM indication within the seconds subdial at 9 o’clock. Broer praised its legibility despite the number of indications; that is his subjective assessment.
Movement and GMT function
Broer identifies the movement as Panerai’s automatic P.4001, which he says was developed and manufactured at the company’s Neuchâtel manufacture. His article reports an off-centre micro-rotor, a 72-hour reserve, hacking seconds and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. A power-reserve display is visible on the movement side of the watch, keeping the dial free of that indicator.

The GMT hand provides a second time-zone indication, while the AM/PM display helps distinguish day from night for that indication. The review describes the arrangement but does not provide a full operating manual for setting the watch.
Water resistance and strap impressions
The 2016 review gives water resistance as 100 m / 10 bar. Broer personally said he would swim with the watch only on a rubber strap; that is his own caution, not a stated manufacturer restriction or a guarantee that a particular strap makes swimming appropriate. For a pre-owned watch, consult its documentation and have its water resistance checked before exposing it to water, since condition and seal integrity matter.

Broer liked the strap quality and matching stitching, and preferred the signed pin buckle to a folding clasp. The article does not establish the factory lug width, so it cannot confirm the fit of a replacement strap by size.
Price and comparison context
Broer reported a retail price of $11,700 for the PAM00627 in 2016. He also gave approximate contemporary prices of $9,000 for a Rolex GMT-Master II and $8,000 for an Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M GMT. These are historical figures from that article, not current prices or like-for-like value findings. The piece frames all three as GMT sports watches, but does not present a full comparative test.

The review also notes the related PAM00628, whose power-reserve indicator is on the dial rather than on the movement side. It does not provide a complete specification comparison between the two references. No production quantity is established: Broer said he did not know how many PAM00627 watches Panerai made.
