Patek Philippe introduced this rose-gold version in 2019 as the successor to the white-gold 5235G.
What is the Patek Philippe 5235R?
“5235R” is the common shortened name for Patek Philippe reference 5235/50R-001, a self-winding annual-calendar watch in rose gold. Patek labels its display “Regulator-style.” The exact reference matters when identifying the rose-gold model: the earlier 5235G is the white-gold version.
The rose-gold watch was presented at Baselworld in 2019. Patek described it as an Annual Calendar Regulator with a charcoal-gray-to-ebony-black dial. Contemporary coverage characterized it as an update to the 5235G, retaining the movement technology while changing the look. How does the regulator display work?
Instead of placing the hour and minute hands together at the center, the 5235R separates the readings: the central hand shows sweeping minutes, while a subdial shows the hours and another indicates seconds. Day, date and month are shown in separate apertures. The result is a dial organized around distinct indications rather than the familiar central hour-and-minute pair.

Patek lists the dial as two-tone graphite and ebony black with a vertical satin finish, white transfer-printed hour markers and white-gold baton-style hands. How often does the annual calendar need setting?
The calendar accounts for 30- and 31-day months, but it does not automatically handle February’s shorter length. Patek says the annual-calendar mechanism needs correction at the end of February each year. It is not a perpetual calendar: Patek distinguishes perpetual calendars by their ability to account for monthly variation and leap years without regular correction while the watch continues running. What movement is in the 5235R?
The watch uses Patek Philippe self-winding caliber 31-260 REG QA. Its regulator-style layout provides the hour and seconds subdials and central sweep minutes, alongside apertures for day, date and month. Patek specifies a 22K-gold off-center minirotor, a Gyromax balance and a Spiromax balance spring; the manufacturer also describes Pulsomax and Spiromax in Silinvar as Advanced Research developments used in the regulating movement.

Case size and water resistance

5235R versus 5235G
The primary documented distinction is the case metal and corresponding presentation: the 5235R is the rose-gold version introduced in 2019, while the earlier 5235G is white gold. Hodinkee reported at launch that the 5235R retained the predecessor’s movement technology while changing the look. Fratello also describes the caliber as shared by the two versions; its retrospective includes reviewer opinion and practical setting observations, so those should be understood as that publication’s assessment rather than manufacturer specifications. What does a Patek Philippe 5235R cost?
Patek Philippe’s product page displayed $69,393 when accessed in 2026, but that figure does not establish a market-wide price, geographic applicability, current retail availability or a guaranteed transaction price. Hodinkee reported $51,830 at the 2019 launch; that is a historical launch-era figure, not a current quote.
