The Petermann Bédat Reference 1825 is the independent Swiss watchmaker’s first closed-dial, time-only three-hand model: a 38 mm rose-gold watch with translucent green grand-feu enamel and a new hand-wound caliber. What is the Reference 1825?
Petermann Bédat calls the 1825 the third creation from its workshop. It is the first of the brand’s models described on its reference page as a closed-dial, time-only watch, with central hours and minutes and small seconds at 6 o’clock. The maker says its caliber was redesigned and developed from scratch.
The watch adapts case language associated with the brand’s Reference 2941 to a three-hand display. The shift is also visual: earlier models used semi-open dial designs, while the 1825 places a finished dial over the movement for a more classical, uninterrupted face.

The dial combines a sector-like arrangement with the texture of the laser-worked gold under translucent enamel. That pairing gives the closed face visual depth without exposing the mechanism on the dial side; the movement’s distinctive geometry and finishing are instead presented from the back.

Caliber 233: a simple display with a distinctive movement
The new Caliber 233 is manually wound and measures 30 mm across. Petermann Bédat lists 21 jewels, a frequency of 18,000 vibrations per hour and a 56-hour power reserve. These are published specifications, not independently measured performance results.

The maker says the movement began as a simple caliber shaped around form rather than complication, with inspiration drawn from pocket watches its founders restored in the workshop. Its layout starts symmetrically around a bell-shaped central steel bridge before developing into a more dynamic arrangement. Oversized ruby bearings are another stated detail.

Finishing called out by the brand includes Côtes de Genève, hand-polished chamfers, sun graining and perlage, hand-finished steel surfaces, circular graining and snail graining. The combination of visible construction and elaborate surface work gives the movement much of the watch’s mechanical character despite the straightforward three-hand display.
Price, production and availability

Petermann Bédat describes the model as “Limited by our production in 4 years (2026-2029).” The brand does not publish a total edition number, so the production window should not be read as a stated piece count. Launch reports projected deliveries beginning in early 2026; those announcements do not establish whether deliveries have taken place or whether the watch can be ordered now.
