What is the Piaget Altiplano 60th Anniversary watch?
Piaget introduced its 9P calibre in 1957 and describes it as just 2 mm thick. The 2017 anniversary collection looked back to that milestone with historically minded Altiplano designs. Piaget frames the broader ambition with Valentin Piaget’s words: “to do what has never been done before.” Piaget’s Altiplano history also discusses the later Altiplano Ultimate Concept, a separate project whose first beat came on February 7, 2017, after four years of development; it is not one of the anniversary references covered here.

The practical distinction is straightforward: the G0A42107 is the smaller, manually wound option; the G0A42105 is larger and winds automatically. The stated power reserves are close, and both figures are approximate. The two power-reserve claims come from different sources: Time Transformed’s 2017 coverage for the 38 mm watch and Emperor Watch & Jewellery’s product listing for the 43 mm model.

Is the 38 mm Altiplano 60th Anniversary manual or automatic?
The 38 mm G0A42107 is hand-wound and uses Piaget calibre 430P. Time Transformed reported an approximately 43-hour power reserve in 2017. Its smaller diameter and manual winding set it apart from the 43 mm automatic G0A42105.
What movement is in the Piaget Altiplano 60th Anniversary?
There is no single movement for the central anniversary pair. The 38 mm G0A42107 uses the hand-wound 430P, while the 43 mm G0A42105 uses the automatic 1200P. The collection’s historical inspiration is the 1957 9P, but that is not the calibre identified for either of these two watches.

How the anniversary design differs from the coloured-dial trio
SJX’s 2017 hands-on coverage also discusses a related set of 40 mm coloured-dial automatic watches. These are separate anniversary-era models, not the core 38 mm G0A42107 and 43 mm G0A42105 pair. SJX reports a 6.36 mm case height for that coloured-dial trio; that measurement should not be applied to either core reference.
SJX characterizes the coloured dials as more vivid than the usual slim dress-watch palette and describes the watches’ slim cases, baton markers and hands as an aesthetic modeled on the original. Those observations concern the 40 mm trio.
