Is the 37 mm Rado HyperChrome Captain Cook too small?
Diameter alone cannot settle fit. Rado’s 2017 dimensions—37.3 mm wide, 43.1 mm long and 11.1 mm high—give a more useful starting point than the nominal 37 mm label, but they cannot tell you how the watch will sit on your wrist. Try the exact watch on if possible, paying attention to the lug-to-lug span and how the case meets the edges of your wrist. Rado positioned the original 37 mm size as part of its vintage-inspired design; in its 2017 design feature, the company said the reissue “even kept the original 37mm size.” That is brand framing, not an independent fit assessment. Rado’s historical account places the later 42 mm model in 2019.

How does the 2017 watch compare with newer Captain Cook models?
Generation and reference make a material difference. For example, Rado’s current US catalog entry for reference R32105203 describes a later 42 mm version with calibre R763 and 30-bar water resistance. It should not be treated as the specification for the 2017 37 mm limited edition.

The comparison is intentionally narrow: the cited catalog result for R32105203 does not establish all its specifications. Rado’s current collection overview also includes later designs, including the 43 mm High-Tech Ceramic generation introduced in 2021. Check the specific reference’s product page rather than assuming that size, materials, movement, strap or resistance carry across the family.

Is the 2017 Captain Cook a real dive watch?
Rado specified the 2017 limited edition at 10 bar (100 m). That is a manufacturer-rated water-resistance figure, not a report of testing this individual watch or a recommendation to use a vintage example for diving. Water resistance can depend on the watch’s present condition and seal integrity, neither of which the launch specification establishes. For swimming or diving, have the exact watch checked by a qualified watchmaker and follow the maker’s guidance for that reference.
How long is the power reserve?
Rado listed up to 80 hours for the automatic ETA C07.611 in the 2017 reference 763.0500.3.130. “Up to” is the manufacturer’s stated maximum, not a measured result for every watch. A listing for another Captain Cook generation may use a different movement, so verify the reference before relying on that figure.
