Their technical specifications are the same; the choice is visual: DE1 has a warm pink dial and strap, while DE2 pairs vivid turquoise artwork with a blue-green strap. Ressence made 20 of each, 40 watches in total. Both use the brand’s orbiting ROCS 8 display for hours and minutes.
What’s different between the TYPE 8 DE1 and DE2?
The difference is the color treatment and matching rubber strap, not the published movement or case specifications. Ressence says both designs take their concentric-circle motifs from Engelberg’s Inside Out series, whose forms create an illusion of depth.

Ressence’s release also says each watch is supplied with a complementary blue leather strap. The listed strap dimensions are 20/20 mm, with a titanium ardillon buckle. For a current or pre-owned listing, confirm the included straps and condition with the seller.
How the ROCS 8 display works
The TYPE 8 shows hours and minutes, with no seconds or date function listed. Ressence’s patented Ressence Orbital Convex System (ROCS) makes dial elements orbit one another. On these editions, Engelberg’s circular artwork is integrated into that moving display, rather than appearing as a static conventional dial. Ressence describes the automatic movement module as ROCS 8, driven by the minute axle of a customized automatic base calibre.

Engelberg described the effect as an animated work of art: “For the first time, I have a work of art that is animated.” Ressence founder Benoît Mintiens called the project “a true application of art to a watch” and “an almost literal integration of an artwork into a watch dial.” These are the collaborators’ descriptions; they do not replace independent performance testing.

Ressence published the following specifications for the pair in its June 2025 release. These are manufacturer figures, not independently measured results.

The 1 ATM rating is stated as splash resistance, not as a swimming specification. The available manufacturer information does not establish an independent accuracy figure, durability result or long-term reliability statistic.

Ressence announced a price of CHF 19,000 excluding taxes in its 17 June 2025 press release. The brand’s product pages currently list each watch at €25,000 including VAT. Those prices use different currencies and tax treatments and should not be treated as directly comparable.

Ressence planned retail availability for August 2025. As of 7 October 2026, the brand’s official shop lists both models as sold out and its product inventory data shows them unavailable. That confirms the status of Ressence’s own storefront, not the availability of every authorized retailer or the secondary market.
Ressence states that production is 20 examples of each reference, 40 in total. If considering a resale listing, check the reference, provenance, condition and included straps with the seller; limited production alone does not establish an individual watch’s authenticity or condition.
Which one should you choose?
There is no published technical advantage for either reference. Choose DE1 for its pink artwork and strap, or DE2 for the turquoise artwork and blue-green strap. Since the official shop lists both as unavailable, any purchase decision also depends on the particular seller, the watch’s condition and what accessories are included.
