Klockwerks was the Toronto studio associated with clock-maker and assemblage artist Roger Wood. A 2009 Make: profile presented his timepieces and collected or fabricated curiosities through a neo-Victorian, steampunk lens. A later 2019 mention documents another update from Wood, but does not establish whether Klockwerks is operating or selling work today.
What was Roger Wood’s Klockwerks?
Make:’s Peter Horvath profiled Klockwerks on 8 June 2009 as Wood’s studio in Toronto, Canada, and described him as a self-identified steampunk clock-maker. The work brought timepieces together with collected and fabricated artifacts, drawing on neo-Victorian aesthetics. Read the 2009 Make: profile.
That description points to work that sits between clock-making and object-based art: the timepiece is part of a larger visual composition, rather than the only feature of interest. The available profile does not establish specific mechanisms or materials for individual pieces, so it is best not to assume that every Klockwerks object was a working clock or shared the same construction.
The Klockwerks Chronulator
The 2009 profile refers to an earlier feature on a named work, the Klockwerks Chronulator. That establishes it as an example associated with Wood, but the earlier post could not be retrieved for this account. Details about its mechanism, components, or operation therefore remain unconfirmed.

What later coverage says about Wood’s work
On 4 March 2019, Cory Doctorow’s Boing Boing described Wood as an assemblage clock sculptor and reported receiving a February creation update from the Klockwerks mailing list. The message was quoted as: “This is what I created in February.” This is evidence of a dated update in 2019, not confirmation of current studio activity. Read the Boing Boing post.

If you are looking for a similar look, “steampunk assemblage clock” is a useful search phrase for decorative clocks and sculptural objects. A third-party clock in that style is an alternative, not an original Klockwerks work. For any listing, check whether it is a functioning clock or a sculpture, what materials and found objects it uses, its dimensions, who made it, and whether provenance is documented before treating it as comparable to Wood’s art.
