Do not confuse it with the SLGA025. That is another Evolution 9 Spring Drive watch, but its official product page does not identify it as a GMT. Grand Seiko lists the SLGA025 with a 120-hour power reserve, but that specification does not make it a direct GMT counterpart.

Grand Seiko SBGC251
The SBGC251 combines a 24-hour hand and dual-time function with a rotating 24-hour bezel. It also has a calendar-linked time-zone adjustment and a stopwatch with 30-minute and 12-hour counters. The rotating bezel and Rolex’s fixed bezel are distinct interfaces, not interchangeable descriptions of the same feature.

Choose by size and added functions
On published dimensions, the SBGC251 is wider and thicker than the 42 mm Explorer II. It also adds a chronograph, while the Rolex lists a date. Those figures describe size, not how either watch will feel on a particular wrist; comfort and legibility are not established by the specifications alone.

Compare precision claims carefully
The stated figures use different formats: Rolex gives a daily range after casing, while Grand Seiko gives a monthly average and its approximate daily equivalent. They are manufacturer specifications, not a head-to-head test under identical conditions.
What is established about the Explorer II’s history?
Rolex says the Explorer II launched in 1971, was restyled with its case diameter increased to 42 mm in 2011, and had its case and bracelet redesigned in 2021. These milestones provide context for the current 226570, but they do not resolve which Grand Seiko reference a buyer means by “Evolution 9 GMT.”
