Some Rolex watches have become less expensive on the secondary market than they were during the market’s earlier peak—but that does not mean every Rolex is falling, or that an authorized dealer will sell you a sought-after model at retail. The latest figures in the available WatchCharts reporting show a market that has cooled in parts and moved unevenly since.
How much have Rolex secondary-market prices fallen?
WatchCharts reported that, over the two years covered in its 2025 article, the GMT-Master declined 9.7%, the Submariner 11.1%, and the Daytona 12.9%. Its broader Rolex Market Index fell 9.2% over the same period. These are historical market estimates for the period in that report—not current prices or a forecast. WatchCharts’ mid-2025 report also said several sports models that had previously sold at secondary-market premiums were trading at or below retail. That applied to some models, not every Rolex reference.

The figures describe secondary-market movements. They do not show how much a particular watch costs today, nor do they establish a dollar saving for a specific buyer. Reference, condition, completeness, seller, and location all matter when comparing actual listings.
Have Rolex prices stopped falling?
There is no single answer across every model or time window. WatchCharts’ July 2026 update reported that Rolex prices rose 1.0% in the second quarter overall, then edged down 0.2% in July. It also said prices fell 1% across the latter two months of Q2 as dealer inventory built ahead of Watches & Wonders. Those figures describe different periods, so the quarter’s gain and the later softening can both be true. WatchCharts’ July 2026 market update does not establish October 2026 prices or a continuing direction for every reference.

What the Rolex Market Index can—and can’t—tell you
WatchCharts describes its Rolex Market Index as an indicator of secondary-market performance for Rolex watches. It is useful for following the broad direction of the market, but it is not a quote for every model, condition, seller, or location. A falling index can coexist with a specific reference holding value or rising.
It is also important to distinguish secondary-market price from retail price. WatchCharts defines “value retention” as the percentage difference between a watch’s secondary-market value and its retail price. That gap can change because the secondary-market value moves, because retail price changes, or both. WatchCharts’ mid-year 2025 update explains the term; it should not be read as a guarantee of what a buyer will pay or receive in a transaction.

Why a price drop may not help you buy at retail
Secondary-market prices and authorized-dealer availability are separate issues. A watch trading closer to retail—or even below it in some secondary-market listings—does not guarantee that an authorized dealer has the reference you want or can sell it to you at list price. The reported market movements measure prices, not dealer allocation or an individual buyer’s access.
If you are comparing offers, match the exact reference and condition, and check whether the watch includes its box and papers. Compare prices in the same geography and distinguish a dealer’s asking price from a completed sale where that information is available. The figures above do not establish current October 2026 prices for any specified country.
