1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesShort answer: The Samsung Galaxy Ring may suit sleep-first users better than an Apple Watch Series 9 because it is screenless, less intrusive to wear overnight, and needs charging less often. That verdict reflects one Mashable reviewer’s experience—not a controlled comparison or proof that the Ring is better for everyone. The Ring is a passive wellness tracker, not a replacement for a smartwatch’s interactive features.
The short version
Mashable reviewer Kimberly Gedeon reported preferring the Galaxy Ring to an Apple Watch Series 9 after wearing the Ring for more than seven days in 2024. She cited overnight comfort, passive sleep and wellness tracking, fewer screen distractions, and about six days of observed battery life. This was a personal hands-on verdict, not a laboratory comparison or an accuracy test.
The Ring’s case is strongest if you want quiet overnight tracking and use a compatible Android phone. An Apple Watch is the better fit if you want a screen, notifications, communication, navigation, or live workout controls. The Ring does not support iPhone, according to the reviewed article; check Samsung’s current compatibility requirements before buying.

Why the Ring may work better for sleep
A small, screenless ring may be less intrusive than a watch during the night, and a less frequent charging routine can make overnight wear easier to maintain. Comfort is personal: fit, finger shape, and swelling can affect whether a ring is comfortable enough to wear.
Samsung’s battery figures are manufacturer claims, not a guarantee for every wearer. Samsung says its estimates are based on internal lab tests and that actual battery life can vary with usage, model, and battery manufacturer. Separately, Gedeon reportedly observed about six days during her 2024 test.

Samsung Health provides sleep and wellness information, but the dossier establishes no independent clinical sleep-accuracy statistic or head-to-head validation. Treat the Ring’s scores and estimates as wellness information, not a diagnosis or substitute for medical assessment. Samsung states that its features are intended for general wellness purposes only.
What the Ring does—and does not—replace
The reviewed article describes the Galaxy Ring as a screenless sensor that reports through Samsung Health. It is not a full replacement for watch-style calls, messages, on-device apps, GPS navigation, payments, or a live exercise interface. Some advanced functions depend on the paired phone, so check current requirements before purchase.

Its most credible advantage over an Apple Watch for the reader in the original review was that it was comfortable to wear overnight and did not invite interaction through a screen. That does not establish better sleep-stage accuracy or make it the better choice for users who need an interactive smartwatch.
Who should consider the Galaxy Ring?
- Consider it if you want passive sleep and wellness tracking, dislike wearing a watch to bed, and have a compatible Android phone.
- Choose a smartwatch instead if your priority is an interactive screen, communication, navigation, or live workout controls.
- Check compatibility first if you are considering the Ring: the reviewed article says it does not support iPhone and that some advanced features require a Samsung Galaxy phone.
