1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThe 2024 leak showed Samsung pursuing two clearly different watch designs: an evolutionary, round Galaxy Watch 7 and a much larger Galaxy Watch Ultra with a squircle outer case and rugged controls. The images were attributed to Evan Blass (Evleaks), but they were renders, not Samsung specifications. They were discussed as pre-launch material ahead of the July 10, 2024 Galaxy Unpacked event, even though the source page is dated October 15, 2024.
What the leaked images actually showed
The report was a visual preview, not a complete specification sheet. It showed apparent industrial design, colors and band concepts while using leak-era language such as “expected,” “reportedly” and “speculation.” Samsung subsequently released both watches, so the useful question now is which parts of that preview held up and what the designs mean for buyers.
Galaxy Watch 7: a familiar round design
The Watch 7 renders showed a conventional round case and round display in the established Galaxy Watch style. Nothing in the images suggested the radical, oversized body later associated with the Ultra. The apparent strategy was evolutionary hardware with visual differentiation through finishes and bands.
Colors shown in the renders
- Cream
- Forest green
- Silver
Those were render-based observations, not a promise that every size, connectivity version or market would receive all three colors. Samsung can change availability before or after launch.

What the design implied
The round profile suited everyday notifications, fitness, sleep tracking, calls and apps without committing the wearer to an oversized adventure-watch shape. The renders did not establish the complete size range, final materials or every control detail.
Galaxy Watch Ultra: Samsung’s visible design break
The Ultra was the striking part of the leak. Its outer body appeared squircle-shaped—rounded corners around a round display—creating a layered silhouette unlike the standard Watch 7.
Controls and case language
- A crown-like control on the side, surrounded by a visible guard
- Two additional side buttons
- A large, rugged-looking case with premium, titanium-style positioning
- Bright or contrasting bands with an ocean and outdoor-sport character
The images made the Ultra look built for a more tactile, endurance-oriented experience. The crown-like component’s exact function was not proven by a render. The source also speculated that the new casing might mean no rotating bezel; that was an inference, not a confirmed specification.

Why people compared it with Apple Watch Ultra
The comparison was about appearance: a premium adventure-watch tier, a guarded crown treatment, a large case, an attention-grabbing watch face and ocean-style bands. It was not evidence that Samsung copied Apple’s internal hardware or software. The finished watch must be judged on its own durability, health functions, battery behavior, cellular service and Android integration.

Leak claims versus what was confirmed
| Claim or impression in the leak story | How to read it now |
|---|---|
| Watch 7 would be announced at Galaxy Unpacked | Pre-launch expectation; Samsung subsequently released the Galaxy Watch 7. |
| Ultra would use a squircle outer case | The render showed that design direction, which was reflected in the released Ultra. |
| Ultra would be 47mm | A reported leak-era size, not the authoritative basis for every final specification. |
| Watch 7 colors would include cream, forest green and silver | Colors visible in renders; actual availability varies by model and market. |
| Ultra would have a crown-like control | Visible in the images; the render alone did not establish its exact function. |
| Ultra would omit a rotating bezel | Original-source speculation, not a confirmed claim in the render report. |
| Ultra pricing would approach Apple Watch Ultra territory | Editorial positioning based on the apparent premium design, not a Samsung price announcement. |
The original source is Android Headlines’ render report, attributed to Evan Blass. Its October 15, 2024 page date conflicts with text treating July 10 as an upcoming event, so it is best understood as a pre-launch report that was published late, updated or misdated.
What the two watches mean as purchases
Choose Galaxy Watch 7 when you want
- A conventional round smartwatch that looks at home in daily wear
- A lower entry price and a less imposing case
- Notifications, exercise, sleep, calls, apps and everyday health tracking
- An option that does not require the Ultra’s rugged styling or premium positioning
Choose Galaxy Watch Ultra when you want
- A large, adventure-oriented watch and a more conspicuous design
- Premium materials, LTE and extra physical controls
- A case suited to users who genuinely prefer oversized sports watches
- To accept a substantially higher price for design and capability headroom
“Ultra” does not automatically mean better value. On a small wrist, the larger case and squircle geometry can be uncomfortable, and ordinary notification or activity needs rarely require the premium model.

Bluetooth or LTE?
| Version | Practical difference |
|---|---|
| Bluetooth | Usually costs less and relies more heavily on the paired phone for calls, messages and connected functions. |
| LTE | Costs more and may require a carrier wearable plan, but can keep calls and connectivity available when the phone is left behind. |
LTE only pays off if your carrier supports the watch and you regularly exercise, travel or work without your phone. Do not compare a low-priced Bluetooth Watch 7 directly with an LTE Ultra without accounting for that connectivity difference.

Samsung says the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra use Wear OS and require a phone running Android 11 or later with at least 1.5GB of memory. Samsung’s support guidance says these newer Wear OS Galaxy watches are not compatible with iOS, making them poor choices for iPhone owners.
Most Android phones can pair, but feature support can vary outside Samsung’s ecosystem. Some health functions require a Samsung account, Samsung Health and, depending on the feature and market, a compatible Samsung Galaxy phone, approved country availability and supported app versions. Health measurements should not be treated as medical diagnoses.

US prices and 2026 buying context
Samsung’s US Watch 7 buying page displayed these prices when checked:
| Galaxy Watch 7 configuration | Displayed US price |
|---|---|
| 40mm Bluetooth | $249.99 |
| 40mm LTE | $299.99 |
| 44mm Bluetooth | $279.99 |
| 44mm LTE | $329.99 |
These are observed page prices, not permanent global pricing; promotions and stock can change. The same checkout flow displayed Samsung Care+ at $3 per month or $49 for two years, with a higher-priced theft-and-loss option. Coverage, deductibles and availability vary by product, plan and state.

Samsung’s document also lists newer Galaxy Watch 8 models, so the 2024 Watch 7 and first-generation Ultra are older products. A discount can make either worthwhile, but compare the actual sale price, warranty and remaining software-support horizon with newer models.
Bottom line for the leak and the watches
The renders correctly previewed Samsung’s biggest design split: the Watch 7 stayed round and familiar, while the Ultra introduced a squircle-framed, rugged premium identity. Treat the colors, reported 47mm size, bezel inference and Apple comparisons as leak-era or editorial interpretation rather than a specification sheet. For a 2026 buyer, the Watch 7 is the sensible everyday and value choice; the Ultra is for users who specifically want a large LTE adventure watch and are comfortable paying for it. Neither works with an iPhone.
