Samsung began a phased U.S. rollout of blood-pressure monitoring in Samsung Health Monitor on March 31, 2026. It is a Galaxy Watch feature, not a reader built into the phone: the watch estimates blood pressure after calibration with a separate upper-arm cuff. Samsung describes it as a wellness tool, not a substitute for medical monitoring.
What the Samsung blood-pressure feature does
The Galaxy Watch uses its optical heart-rate sensors and a software model to estimate systolic pressure, diastolic pressure and pulse. Samsung Health Monitor on the phone is used for setup, entering cuff calibration readings, viewing results and syncing data; the phone does not measure blood pressure by itself. This is not an inflatable cuff built into the watch.
Samsung lists a measurement range of 70–180 mmHg systolic and 40–120 mmHg diastolic. The stated calibration range is 80–170 mmHg systolic and 50–110 mmHg diastolic. These are the feature’s specified ranges, not a claim that every reading is clinically reliable. See Samsung Health Monitor’s U.S. product information.
Blood-pressure monitoring is not entirely new to Samsung watches worldwide: Samsung previously introduced it in selected international markets, subject to local availability and authorization. The 2026 development is its U.S. rollout. Samsung’s earlier announcement about expansion to additional countries describes that regional history.

Which watches and phones are compatible in the U.S.?
Samsung’s current U.S. support information specifies a Galaxy Watch4 or later, excluding Galaxy Fit devices, running Wear OS 4.0 or later, paired with a Galaxy phone running Android 12 or later. The watch and phone must be paired over Bluetooth through Galaxy Wearable. Samsung’s U.S. requirements are the relevant guide for U.S. users; instructions in other markets and for earlier software generations may differ. Check Samsung’s U.S. compatibility and setup instructions.
Samsung began distribution in phases, so a compatible device may not show the feature immediately. Availability can also depend on market, device configuration and software. An imported watch or a non-Samsung Android phone should not be assumed to work in the U.S.; Samsung’s regional product information notes that local restrictions can apply.

You still need an upper-arm cuff
A separate third-party upper-arm cuff-based monitor is required to calibrate the watch. For initial calibration, take three cuff measurements within 30 minutes and enter them in Samsung Health Monitor. The cuff is not needed for every subsequent watch reading, but Samsung requires recalibration every 28 days; the app also allows earlier manual recalibration. Use a cuff sized according to its manufacturer’s instructions. Calibration is personal, so it should not be treated as transferable between users.
How to set up and calibrate the watch
- Update the Galaxy Watch software through the Galaxy Wearable app.
- Open Samsung Health Monitor on the watch and follow the prompt to install or activate Samsung Health Monitor on the paired Galaxy phone.
- Complete the profile and permission prompts in the phone app.
- On the phone, open Samsung Health Monitor, tap Blood pressure at the bottom, then tap Calibrate the watch.
- Put the cuff on one upper arm and wear the watch on the opposite wrist. Sit quietly and take three cuff readings within 30 minutes, entering each result as prompted.
- After calibration, on the watch open Samsung Health Monitor, tap Blood pressure, then Measure, and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Review the result on the watch or in Samsung Health Monitor on the phone.
Samsung’s full instructions and current UI details are on its U.S. support page.

How to get a more consistent reading
Samsung advises avoiding smoking, bathing, exercise, alcohol and caffeine for at least 30 minutes before measuring. Sit indoors in a quiet place and rest for at least five minutes. Keep your back supported, legs uncrossed and feet flat, with your forearms resting on a table. The arm and wrist should be dry and free of sweat or lotion.
- Use the same wrist you used during calibration.
- Fit the strap snugly, but not excessively tight.
- Stay still and do not talk while the watch measures.
- Breathe normally; do not deliberately slow or deepen your breathing.
Recent activity, movement, talking, poor posture, unsuitable cuff fit or poor sensor contact can affect a reading.

What to do if blood pressure does not appear
- Check that the watch is a supported Galaxy Watch4-or-newer model and that the phone is a Galaxy device running Android 12 or later.
- Install available updates for Galaxy Wearable, the watch and Samsung Health Monitor.
- Open Samsung Health Monitor on the watch, not only Samsung Health on the phone. The measurement feature is in Samsung Health Monitor.
- Confirm the watch and phone are paired correctly and that the apps are set up for the intended user.
- Check whether the watch and phone are from a supported market. Regional restrictions can block availability even on otherwise compatible hardware.
- If the rollout is still staged for your devices, allow time for it to arrive. You can also reboot both devices and reopen Samsung Health Monitor or Galaxy Store.
For an imported watch, a carrier-branded configuration or a non-Samsung Android phone, compatibility is uncertain; Samsung’s U.S. support page does not promise support for those combinations.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is it a replacement for a blood-pressure monitor?
No. Samsung says the feature is intended for wellness monitoring and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, mitigate, prevent or manage disease. The watch offers a convenient way to collect readings between cuff measurements, but it relies on periodic cuff calibration and is not equivalent to a validated upper-arm monitor for clinical decisions. Do not use a watch reading alone to change medication or make an urgent health decision.

- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.

If a watch reading is unexpected or concerning, check it with a properly used upper-arm cuff and contact a healthcare professional as appropriate. Symptoms matter even if a watch reading appears normal. Samsung’s U.S. rollout announcement states the wellness limitation.
Should you buy a Galaxy Watch for this feature?
If you already own a compatible watch and Galaxy phone, first check for the app and software rollout rather than buying another watch. For a new purchase, the actual setup includes a compatible Galaxy Watch, a Galaxy phone and a separate cuff; the cuff is not optional. The feature is a poor reason to buy a smartwatch if your primary need is dependable clinical measurement or cuff-free monitoring.
Samsung’s U.S. Galaxy Watch8 page advertises blood-pressure tracking after calibration with a separately sold cuff: Galaxy Watch8 product information. Samsung purchase pages showed different prices depending on page, size and configuration, so a single price should not be treated as a stable cost. Check the current price for the exact model and remember to account for a suitable cuff.
Does it monitor blood pressure all day?
The verified workflow is a user-started measurement after calibration, not established continuous monitoring. Samsung’s March 2026 announcement said passive blood-pressure trend monitoring was planned for later in 2026; that announcement alone does not confirm whether it has since become available. See Samsung’s announcement for the status it described at rollout.
