What’s new on the Galaxy Watch Ultra2?
Samsung’s comparison with the earlier Galaxy Watch Ultra emphasizes changes to the processor platform, battery capacity, display, case, band, outdoor features, and diving credentials.
| Area | Earlier Galaxy Watch Ultra | Galaxy Watch Ultra2 |
|---|---|---|
| Processor | Earlier-generation platform | Snapdragon Wear Elite; Samsung calls it the first Galaxy Watch with this platform |
| Battery capacity | Earlier-generation capacity | 800 mAh; Samsung Mobile Press says this is 35% more capacity |
| Display | 1.47 inches; up to 3,000 nits, in Samsung’s comparison | 1.52 inches; up to 5,000 nits |
| Case | Earlier-generation design | 10.7 mm thick; Samsung Mobile Press says the body is 12% thinner |
| Band | Earlier-generation band | Samsung says the band is 26% lighter and uses an air-pocket structure |
| Outdoor and diving features | Earlier-generation feature set | Trail Run guidance, GPX route support, and EN13319 certification |
The percentages and comparisons in this table are from Samsung Mobile Press and Samsung’s product materials, not independent testing. The Ultra2 remains a 47 mm watch, so its thinner case does not make it a small-watch option.

Battery life and charging
The Ultra2 has an 800 mAh battery. Samsung describes this as 35% more capacity than the previous generation and estimates up to 60 hours with the always-on display enabled. Samsung’s U.S. product page also gives an estimate of up to 20 hours for an outdoor GPS workout. These are manufacturer estimates, not independent endurance-test results; actual battery life depends on settings and use.
Samsung says the watch can charge up to 40% in around 30 minutes. This is a partial-charge claim, not a full-charge time. For details and qualifications, consult Samsung’s product page.

Trail, outdoor, and diving features
Samsung highlights Trail Run features that include elevation, climbing progress, and cumulative ascent and descent information. The watch also supports GPX routes and trail guidance. These are intended to make the Ultra2 more useful for outdoor activities, but the dossier does not establish independent results for GPS accuracy, elevation accuracy, or battery life in real-world testing.
Samsung lists titanium, IP69K, 10 ATM, MIL-STD-810H, and EN13319 certification. Its materials describe the Depth app as presenting depth, water temperature, and elapsed dive time for activities down to 130 feet. Treat those as Samsung’s specifications and intended-use claims: certification does not mean the watch suits every dive profile or replaces purpose-built equipment for every diver.

Compatibility and LTE checks
Samsung Global Newsroom lists Android 13.0 or higher and more than 1.5 GB of memory as compatibility requirements. LTE is listed, but availability depends on country and carrier. Before buying, confirm that your phone meets Samsung’s requirements and that your carrier supports the watch’s LTE service in your region.
Is the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 worth upgrading to?
The Ultra2 is most relevant to buyers who want Samsung’s 47 mm premium outdoor watch and value its stated battery capacity, brighter display, trail features, or listed diving standard. The case is still large, and the U.S. announced price is $699.99, so buyers should weigh those features against their actual needs and budget.
For an owner of an earlier Galaxy Watch Ultra, the upgrade decision comes down to whether the specific changes matter: the Snapdragon Wear Elite platform, larger stated battery, brighter and slightly larger display, thinner body, revised band, trail guidance, or EN13319 certification. Samsung’s cited materials provide product specifications and claims, but do not establish independent battery endurance or sensor-accuracy results.
