El Tiburón is listed at the same price, but its specifications are less fully documented, so the two should not be treated as interchangeable.
Are Santurce’s Picúa and El Tiburón worth around $949?
The Picúa is the easier model to assess. Its published dimensions, conventional serviceable movement and substantial stated water resistance make it a credible tool-watch proposition at $949. The strongest argument is not that it out-specs every similarly priced diver, but that it combines compact proportions with a clear design identity and familiar mechanical architecture.
That assessment has a meaningful qualification: StrapHabit’s hands-on review praises the Picúa’s operation and wearability but criticizes its case finishing as basic for the price, its hands as small beside the indices, and its logo as oversized. Those are reviewer judgments, not a market-wide ranking or our own test. The verdict is therefore “better than average” in the sense of a thoughtfully specified and distinctive indie diver, not a measured comparison of every independent dive watch.

This is not enough evidence to declare a winner between the two. Fit, bezel and dial details, strap supplied, movement variant, warranty and current delivered price all matter, and the available reporting does not establish a complete side-by-side configuration.
What does the Picúa offer?
StrapHabit’s 2026 specification account lists a forged and heat-treated 316L stainless-steel case with brushed finishing, a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides, and a unidirectional 120-click bezel. Its mechanism is stainless steel and the insert is DLC-coated steel. The dial uses Grade A Super-LumiNova, and the stated water-resistance rating is 300 m / 1,000 ft. These are published product specifications, not results from an independent water-resistance test.

At 39 mm across, 46 mm lug-to-lug and 12.2 mm thick, the Picúa has compact published dimensions for a modern diver. Santurce Collection says it was founded by spouses José and Anita Salas in Santurce, Puerto Rico.
