If “Second Hour Review” brought you here, the most likely match is the Second Hour Gin Clear 3, also called the Gin Clear MK3 in a 2026 review. It is a 40 mm automatic dive watch with 300 m water resistance, a Sellita SW200 movement and a current listed price of A$1,325. Guy Parker’s review praises its bezel, legibility and finishing, while flagging bracelet articulation and thickness as areas he would improve. Whether it suits you depends largely on those fit preferences and the price you are willing to pay.
Which Second Hour watch is this review about?
“Second Hour Review” is ambiguous: it can refer to unrelated search results as well as watches from the Australian brand Second Hour. The strongest match for this title is the Gin Clear 3, which the brand describes as the third evolution of its flagship diver. Watch publication 12&60 calls it the Gin Clear MK3 in Guy Parker’s review, published May 29, 2026. The names refer to the same generation of watch in those sources.
The official listing calls the model The Gin Clear 3. It lists the watch at A$1,325; price and availability may change.
What are the Gin Clear 3’s specifications?
The figures below are from Second Hour’s current product listing unless identified as the reviewer’s observation. They are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements.

What changed in the MK3?
Second Hour’s product page highlights several updates for this generation. The brand describes these as design and engineering changes:
Rank #2
- Stainless Steel case with Black Resin Band
- Black Dial with date window at 3 O'clock
- Luminous markers and hour hands; sweep second hand
- Anti-reverse bezel
- Water-resistant to 200 M (660 feet)
- A ball-bearing bezel mechanism.
- Redesigned hands and updated dial aesthetics and finishing.
- Re-engineered lugs intended to make straight-fit straps easier to use.
- A quick-release bracelet and four dial-color options listed by the brand.
Parker also reports that increased spring-bar clearance addresses a strap-fit complaint about the preceding model. The brand’s own explanation of its design approach is promotional: founder Peter Sargison says its watches are in-house designed and use Swiss and Japanese movements with the company’s surface-hardening treatment. That statement is the founder’s description, not independent verification.
How does the watch perform in the 12&60 review?
Parker’s assessment is favorable overall, particularly on the parts of a dive watch that shape day-to-day interaction and readability.

Bezel
The review describes a 120-click, unidirectional bezel and reports positive impressions of its grip and marker alignment. Parker considers its action among the best in its price bracket. That is one reviewer’s judgment, not a measured comparison across the market.
Dial, legibility and finishing
Parker praises the dial work, legibility, case finishing and redesigned hands. Those are subjective observations from his review; the manufacturer separately lists BGW9 Super-LumiNova as the lume material.

Bracelet and thickness
The bracelet is reported as 20 mm at the watch head, tapering to 18 mm at the clasp, with quick-release bars and on-the-fly adjustment. Parker’s reservations are that he would like more reverse articulation in the bracelet and a slightly thinner case. He writes that he would like a fraction removed from the mid-case or caseback because he feels much of the bulk sits toward the rear. These are personal fit and design preferences, not defects established by independent testing.

The manufacturer specifies a 20 mm lug width, and Parker reports a 20 mm bracelet at the head. However, Hodinkee Australia’s introduction lists the lug width as 22 mm. Because those published figures conflict, do not assume that any 20 mm or 22 mm aftermarket strap will fit without checking your exact watch. Confirm the lug width with Second Hour before ordering; the brand’s strap range is also listed in its shop.

- DIVER-INSPIRED DESIGN — Inspired by the sea, the MDV-106B is styled after classic dive watches and delivers 200-meter water resistance at an unbeatable price point. The black resin band and stainless steel case give it a classic look, while the anti-reverse rotary bezel adds authentic dive-watch character.
- STAINLESS STEEL CASE WITH SCREW-LOCK CROWN & CASEBACK — The MDV-106B features a stainless steel case and a reliable screw-lock crown for enhanced water resistance protection. Screw-down crown and screw-lock caseback work together to keep the movement sealed and secure during water activities — a construction standard found on dive watches far above this price range.
- LARGE FLUORESCENT HANDS & INDICES FOR INSTANT READABILITY — The dial features hands and hour indices with large fluorescent areas for easy reading in low-light and underwater conditions. The clean 3-hand analog layout with date display at 3 o'clock keeps the dial uncluttered and immediately legible at a glance.
- 44MM STAINLESS STEEL CASE | 22MM LUG WIDTH | MINERAL GLASS — The case measures 44mm in diameter, 12mm in height, with a 49mm lug-to-lug length and a standard 22mm lug width — making strap upgrades effortless with a vast range of aftermarket options. Mineral glass protects the dial from everyday scratches and impacts.
- 3-YEAR BATTERY & 200M WATER RESISTANCE — Powered by an SR626SW battery with an approximate 3-year life, the case measures 49.5 × 46.3 × 12.1mm and weighs 92 grams. At 200 meters of water resistance, the Duro is versatile and suitable for all situations — whether in the water, hiking, running, or at the office.
Is the Second Hour Gin Clear 3 worth buying?
At the official listed price of A$1,325, the case for the Gin Clear 3 rests on a substantial feature set: 300 m water resistance, a Swiss automatic movement, sapphire crystal, surface-hardened steel, a ball-bearing bezel and a two-year international warranty. Parker’s review adds praise for its bezel action, legibility and finishing. His main cautions are bracelet articulation and the case’s thickness, so try it on if those details are important to your comfort.
The review compares its value with the Christopher Ward Trident Pro 300 and calls the Gin Clear a strong sub-£1,000 diver. That is Parker’s conclusion and uses a different currency context from the maker’s current Australian price. No current competitor price or specification is established here, so treat the comparison as his opinion rather than a like-for-like buying guide. Check the official listing for the current model, color, price and availability before purchase.
