The Seiko 5 Sports SSK027—listed in full as reference SSK027K1—is a limited-edition automatic GMT made with Japanese skateboarder Yuto Horigome. Its black-coated case and bracelet, red GMT hand, and blue-purple 24-hour bezel set it apart; its 4R34 movement tracks a second time zone with an independent 24-hour hand.
What is the Seiko SSK027 Yuto Horigome edition?
SSK027 is a Seiko 5 Sports GMT collaboration with Yuto Horigome. Listings may use the full reference SSK027K1. It was introduced in 2023 as a 2,700-piece limited edition, according to The Watch Observer’s November 2023 report. The reported European launch price was EUR 570; that is historical launch pricing, not a current valuation.
Do not confuse it with Seiko’s later Yuto Horigome Field collaboration. Seiko USA’s page for that separate release identifies different references and specifications: the official Seiko USA page concerns the other model, not SSK027K1.
What does the Horigome collaboration add to the design?
The model-specific report describes a black-coated stainless-steel case and bracelet, black dial, red GMT hand, and rotating 24-hour bezel in blue and purple. The Watch Observer says the bezel’s colors evoke a Tokyo sunset associated with Horigome’s early skateboarding experience. No attributable statement from Horigome about the SSK027 itself is established in the cited coverage.

How does the GMT function work?
The reported calibre 4R34 combines central timekeeping with an independent 24-hour GMT hand and a date display. The GMT hand makes one circuit per day, allowing it to indicate a second time zone on the bezel’s 24-hour scale. The bezel can be rotated to change the reference used for reading that hand; it is separate from the hand-setting function. This is a practical way to follow another time zone, though the cited specifications do not establish additional functions such as independently jumping the local-hour hand.

What should buyers verify before purchasing?
- Reference: Check that the watch and listing identify SSK027 or the full SSK027K1 reference, rather than a different Horigome collaboration.
- Condition and service: For a pre-owned example, request clear photos and ask about wear to the black coating, movement service history, and any known faults.
- Included items: Confirm whether the box, papers, bracelet links, and other original accessories are present; listings can differ.
- Seller and price: Assess the seller’s reputation and compare current listings for the same reference and condition. The reported EUR 570 European launch price is not evidence of today’s market value.
- Fit: Consider the 42.5 mm diameter, 13.6 mm thickness, and 46 mm lug-to-lug against your wrist and fit preferences.
