The Seiko King Seiko SPB291 is a Boutique Special Edition KSK with a sunray purple gradient dial inspired, according to Seiko, by the wisteria of Kameido, Tokyo. Seiko France lists the SPB291J1 at €2,000; Seiko’s 2022 launch announcement gave an approximate European recommended retail price of €1,850. Those are separate price references for different markets and dates, not a single worldwide price.
What makes the SPB291’s dial distinctive?
Seiko describes the dial as a sunray-finished purple gradation inspired by wisteria in Kameido. In its 2022 announcement, the company stated: “The wisteria of Kameido is the inspiration of the dial design.” Seiko connects the setting to the area around its King Seiko facility and nearby Kameido Tenjin Shrine, which it says was founded in 1662. This is the brand’s account of the design inspiration.

The SPB291 carries the angular design language of the 1965 King Seiko KSK. Seiko pairs that case styling with a box-shaped sapphire crystal, with anti-reflective coating on the crystal’s inner surface.
