The Seiko Prospex SRPE33—also listed in some markets as the SRPE33K1—is a 200 m diver with a manta-ray-inspired blue wave dial, sapphire crystal and Seiko’s 4R35 automatic movement. Its 43.8 mm case and 48.7 mm lug-to-lug length are important fit considerations; the factory water-resistance rating is not a substitute for testing an older or pre-owned watch before diving.
What is the Seiko SRPE33K1?
SRPE33 is Seiko’s model reference for this Prospex Save the Ocean Special Edition diver. Regional listings also use the spelling SRPE33K1, so check the reference shown by the seller and on the watch rather than assuming that every Save the Ocean model has the same dial or specifications. Seiko describes this version’s blue gradient dial and stamped wave pattern as inspired by manta rays and the ocean.
Seiko’s global product specifications identify the watch as SRPE33. The Seiko USA listing describes its manta-ray-themed dial.

How large is it, and what strap fits?
The case measures 43.8 mm across and 48.7 mm from lug to lug. Those figures are more useful for judging wrist fit than diameter alone: compare the lug-to-lug length with a watch you already know fits you. The listed thickness is 12.8 mm. Seiko’s US page rounds the diameter to 44 mm and gives thickness as 12.81 mm.
The space between the lugs is 22 mm, so a 22 mm strap is the starting point when shopping for a replacement. That measurement does not guarantee that every strap’s end shape, spring bars or clasp will fit the watch. Check compatibility with the exact reference. If you plan to resize the supplied bracelet and are not comfortable doing it, use a competent watchmaker.

Is the SRPE33 suitable for diving?
Seiko rates the SRPE33 at 200 m / 660 ft diver’s water resistance. Seiko USA says the design follows ISO standards for scuba diving and describes it as having a secure screw-down crown and caseback. That is the manufacturer’s product claim; it does not confirm the condition of an individual watch.
For a pre-owned watch—or one that has been damaged, opened or left unserviced—do not treat the rating printed in its specifications as proof that it remains watertight. Have it inspected and pressure-tested by a qualified watch service provider before taking it scuba diving. A current test matters more than the age of the model’s published rating.

Movement, dial and construction
4R35 automatic movement
The 4R35 is automatic and can also be wound by hand. Seiko lists an approximately 41-hour power reserve, 23 jewels, a date display and a stop-second function. Seiko USA specifies a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour. These published details describe the movement; they do not establish an individual watch’s accuracy or reliability.
Ocean-inspired design
The blue gradient dial has a stamped wave pattern, with Seiko describing the design as manta-ray inspired. A magnified date sits beneath the sapphire crystal. The black ceramic bezel insert is unidirectional, and the bracelet is stainless steel. Seiko lists LumiBrite on the hands, indexes and bezel, and an anti-reflective coating on the inner face of the sapphire crystal.

What to check before buying
- Confirm the reference: Listings may say SRPE33 or SRPE33K1. Make sure the pictured dial and watch match the reference being offered.
- Assess the fit: Consider the 43.8 mm diameter, 48.7 mm lug-to-lug length and 12.8 mm thickness, not diameter alone.
- Check condition: For a used example, ask about service history and arrange a pressure test before any diving use.
- Verify the details locally: Confirm the price, stock, included bracelet and seller terms in your market; regional specifications and listings can differ.
