What is the Sinn 1800 S GG Damaszener?
It is a limited-edition Sinn automatic watch built around the visible pattern of Damascus steel. Sinn’s 2025/2026 catalogue lists the GG Damaszener as a 100-piece edition and says it received the German Design Award’s “Excellent Product Design” recognition in 2023. Sinn identifies the material as genuine fire-welded Damascus steel. The review also reported 10-bar water resistance and a Sellita SW300-1 automatic movement with bidirectional winding, stop-seconds, a 42-hour power reserve, and anti-magnetism under DIN 8309. These are specifications as reported by that review, not independent measurements.

A 43 mm diameter makes it a substantial watch on paper; the 10.4 mm reported thickness is comparatively restrained for that width. Dimensions alone cannot settle how it will sit on a particular wrist, and no wrist-fit measurements are established here.
What makes the Damascus-steel design unusual?
The case and dial give the steel pattern unusually high visibility. Sinn’s current catalogue describes genuine fire-welded Damascus steel and its distinctive grain, while Fratello’s review discusses the pattern’s visual variation. That means the watch’s character depends heavily on the material itself: the layered lines are not merely a decorative dial print.

There is an important model distinction. Sinn’s older brochure for an earlier 1800 S Damaszener variant describes a central case section and dial forged from one steel block to carry the pattern across both surfaces, along with TEGIMENT technology, a black hard coating, sapphire crystal, and 10-bar pressure resistance. Those details apply to the earlier variant as described in that brochure; they should not automatically be attributed to the 1800 S GG Damaszener.
Is it a practical everyday watch?
The reported 10-bar water resistance, automatic movement, and 43 × 10.4 mm dimensions make this more than a purely ornamental object on the available specification sheet. But the sources do not establish a comprehensive everyday-use assessment, and its visual character is far more pronounced than that of a restrained tool watch.
