What Squale showed at Baselworld
Writing after a meeting with Squale on the second day of Baselworld, in Hall 2, Fratello described both specific model details and work still in development. Those distinctions matter: the 1521 Ocean received the clearest product description, while the 2002 dial changes were shown as developments and the vintage-inspired design had not yet become a named product.
Professional 1521: matte cases and the Ocean dial
Fratello described matte-finished Professional 1521 variants as a new treatment alongside the model’s earlier polished cases and shiny dials. The blue version was called “Ocean.” As reported in April 2015, it had a 42 mm case, 500 m water resistance and an ETA 2824 automatic movement. The listed features were a screw-down crown and case back, unidirectional bezel and flat sapphire crystal. Strap options mentioned were rubber, camouflage rubber or leather.
Fratello reported a German price of €790 and noted that prices differed by destination country. This is a historical price, not a current listing. The article’s favorable comments on the case and dial are the reporter’s impressions, not the result of an independent test. The report does not establish whether the exact Ocean configuration remains available.

Professional 2002: dial developments
For the Professional 2002, Fratello saw new dials with a more prominent Squale logo, including materials such as carbon fiber. The account presents these as developments being shown, not as a fully specified retail launch. It does not provide a final reference or establish which versions, if any, reached production.
An unnamed vintage-inspired prototype
The report also describes a resin CNC prototype for a vintage-inspired watch. The design was still being refined, and the reporter withheld further details. It was not named, and the account gives no final reference, launch date or production outcome. It should not be confused with the separately discussed Squale Tiger.

The Master, 2002 and Tiger appeared in the Baselworld account as existing watches, not new releases. Their specifications and prices below are the figures Fratello reported in 2015.

What Squale said about distribution
In 2015, Fratello reported that Squale was preparing an agreement with a US-based distributor. The stated plan was to increase availability through higher-end jewelry stores and provide after-sales service in the United States; similar arrangements in Europe were also anticipated. These were plans at the time, not confirmed completed arrangements. The official material available for the brand’s later history and press announcements does not establish whether the specific agreement described in the Baselworld report came to pass.

Squale’s official history says the company began by making dive-watch cases for other Swiss brands and dates registration of the Squale trademark to July 10, 1959. Its timeline separately identifies 2015 as the year Squale became official supplier to the Italian State Police Divers Unit, for which it created a special 2002 model to the unit’s requirements. The history does not connect that milestone to the Baselworld meeting, so the two events should be treated as separate contemporaneous developments.
