It presents founder Henry Fischer’s account of a brand designed in Park Slope, Brooklyn, built for online shoppers, and manufactured overseas. This article sets out what that feature says, who is saying it, and which questions it can’t answer for someone shopping today.
The short answer: is Stührling a Brooklyn brand?
According to the 2017 feature, product development happens in Brooklyn and manufacturing happens elsewhere. The piece says everything from preliminary designs to final pre-production samples was handled at the company’s US headquarters in Park Slope. It says the watches themselves were made in overseas facilities. It names neither countries nor suppliers.
So “Brooklyn” describes where the brand is headquartered and where the feature says designs are developed. It does not describe where the watches are assembled. The feature is also a snapshot from 2017, and it can’t confirm how the company operates now.
Why the source matters: partner content
The Fratello Watches piece was published on November 1, 2017, and is explicitly marked as partner content. Partner content is written with, or on behalf of, the brand. Everything below is therefore best read as Stührling’s own account of itself, not independent testing or neutral verification.

What the feature says about the brand
The founder and the “Why not?” origin
The feature identifies Henry Fischer as the founder. It quotes him on the objection that a serious watch brand belongs in the traditional Swiss or European centers: “I kept asking, ‘Why not?'” (Henry Fischer, quoted in Fratello Watches partner content, November 1, 2017). The story is one of an outsider brand building from New York rather than from a historic watchmaking region.
An internet-first customer relationship
The article presents Stührling as a brand made for online consumers. In this telling, buyers can examine products and brand claims on the web and give feedback directly. That is the feature’s framing of the company’s positioning, and it does not show how feedback influenced any specific product.

The mission statement
Fischer is quoted as saying: “Our mission is to create timepieces the owner will want to wear.” This is a statement of intent, not a measurable claim.
The “15 million wrist” claim
The feature calls Stührling a “15 million wrist global brand.” Treat that as a promotional reach figure from Stührling, as reported in Fratello Watches partner content in 2017. The source gives no method or dataset and no independent corroboration. It doesn’t say whether the number means watches sold, watches shipped or something else.

The featured watch: 657 “Tru2” Dual Time Zone
The product at the center of the feature is the 657 “Tru2” Dual Time Zone, which the article describes as newly introduced in 2017. As the article describes it, the watch has:
- a day/night indicator;
- an open-heart display;
- Dauphine-style hands;
- a second-time-zone subdial styled like a chronograph register, showing hours and minutes.
These are descriptions from the article, not hands-on findings. The feature doesn’t give movement, case size, water resistance, warranty or price in a form that supports a comparison. It also doesn’t show that this model is still sold.

If you are considering a Stührling today
Treat the feature as background on how the brand presented itself in 2017, not as a buying guide. Before buying any Stührling, including a 657 variant, confirm the exact reference on the listing and check the movement type, case dimensions, water resistance, warranty and service terms. Also check the seller’s return policy, since none of those details come from the 2017 piece. A “designed in Brooklyn” label is worth reading precisely: the feature itself separates design from manufacture.
