The TAG Heuer Formula 1 x Kith collaboration, announced in 2024, revives the look of the original 1986 Series 1—not a specific 1990s reference. The “90s revival” label needs that distinction: the collection’s 1990s history includes later chronograph updates, while TAG Heuer describes the Kith watches as a return to the first-generation design.
What the TAG Heuer Formula 1 x Kith collaboration is
TAG Heuer’s 2024 collaboration with Kith revisits the visual language of the first Formula 1 Series 1. TAG Heuer says the partners located the original supplier and the exact mould used in 1986. Its account highlights a distinctive hour hand, a triangle at 12 o’clock, alternating shield and dot indices, and a contrasting minuterie—the minute track around the dial. Kith describes the collaboration as a limited-edition collection of co-branded watches, apparel and accessories. Its Collector’s Box Set comprises eight watches and two additional exclusive silhouettes. That description does not mean the set contains ten different watches: Kith distinguishes the eight-watch set from two further silhouettes.
The available official overview names some reference groupings—WA121L.BT0014 and WA121J.BT0012; WA126B.BT0006; WA121P.BA0023 and WA121N.BA0023; WA126C.BT0007; and WA126D.BT0008—but does not provide a complete ten-reference inventory. Check the exact reference rather than treating this partial list as the full collection.

Why the “90s revival” description needs context
The original Formula 1 arrived in 1986
TAG Heuer dates the Formula 1 launch to 1986, after TAG acquired Heuer in January of that year. The company presents the collection as a colorful, relatively inexpensive quartz line connected to its motorsport history. What changed during the 1990s
TAG Heuer’s history places the first Formula 1 chronograph in 1989, followed by an updated chronograph in 1991. A Series 2 chronograph arrived in 1998. TAG Heuer says the 1998 version retained the basic case design but changed the dial and hands; it describes large Arabic hour numerals, an outer minute scale, a patterned inner circle, triangular hands and an ETA 251.262 movement.

Those milestones explain the decade’s place in Formula 1 history, but they do not establish that the Kith collaboration reproduces a particular 1990s reference. TAG Heuer frames it as a revival of the original Series 1. Calling it a 90s revival without that qualification can blur two different periods of the collection’s design history.
What defined the first-generation design
TAG Heuer credits designer Eddy Burgener with the original design. Early watches paired a stainless-steel inner case with a fiberglass coating, and came in 28 mm and 34 mm sizes. The range used case colors including black, white, red, blue and pink, with bright bezels and varied dial choices. The company says fiberglass models continued until 1993/94.

These are historical details about the early range, not specifications for every Kith model. The cited collaboration overview does not establish a full set of Kith model specifications, so do not assume every 2024 watch shares the original materials, dimensions or movement.
