He did not identify a watch or provide specifications. TAG Heuer later documented Solargraph watches in both the Formula 1 and Aquaracer collections, but the available sources do not establish that any particular model was the one he had previewed.
What Biebuyck said about Solargraph’s future
At the Dubai Watch Week panel “Is the Age of Mechanical Innovation Over?”, journalist Robin Swithinbank moderated a discussion with Jiaxian Su, Biebuyck and Pim Koeslag. Biebuyck spoke about growing interest in quartz, its potential for innovation and more accessible pricing, as well as TAG Heuer’s partnership with La Joux-Perret and Citizen Group. Time+Tide reported his comments on October 23, 2024.
“Honestly, the Solargraph is one of the most exciting watches that TAG Heuer is producing right now and, of course, we’ve got some great ideas for what we can do with that movement in the future. I’m looking forward to next year when we’ve got something very interesting to show that is also now by Solargraph, and I think we’ll genuinely get people excited at a price point that, as you say, has been slightly neglected.”
The remark was a forward-looking tease, not a formal product announcement: it named neither a collection nor a model, and gave no launch date beyond “next year.”

What TAG Heuer later documented
Formula 1 Solargraph
TAG Heuer’s April 2025 Formula 1 brochure describes nine Solargraph models and calls Solargraph a first for the Formula 1 lineup. The watches use the solar-quartz Calibre TH50-00. For reference, model WBY1111.BA0042 is listed at 38 mm, with 100 m water resistance, hours, minutes, seconds and date, and a steel bracelet. These are specifications for that cited reference, not every Formula 1 Solargraph. TAG Heuer’s 2025 brochure says ten seconds of exposure to any light source can restart a stopped watch and gives the accumulator a 15-year lifespan; those are the manufacturer’s claims, not independent test results.
Aquaracer Solargraph
Solargraph also appears in TAG Heuer’s Aquaracer collection, a distinct line with a different documented movement reference. The brand’s 2024 Aquaracer brochure lists Solargraph models using Calibre TH50-01; cited examples are 34 mm steel watches rated to 200 m. These figures come from different TAG Heuer brochures (2025 for Formula 1 and 2024 for Aquaracer); they illustrate documented examples rather than an exhaustive or necessarily current inventory. Specifications vary by reference.
How the later comments frame TAG Heuer’s direction
In a January 2026 interview, Biebuyck described the Formula 1 Solargraph as a reinterpretation of the collection’s origins, saying TAG Heuer had taken its design codes and paired them with a “high-precision solar quartz movement.” The comment offers context for the Formula 1 watch, but does not identify it as the unnamed item he teased in 2024. The interview was published by Fratello in January 2026.

Separately, TAG Heuer Movements Director Carole Forestier-Kasapi described solar as part of a broader durability and quality strategy. In a 2026 interview, she said the company wanted to move from regular-battery quartz watches toward solar movements, referring to Solargraph, with the goal of more than 10 years of autonomy. That is her portfolio-level strategy comment, not an explanation of Biebuyck’s 2024 tease. LUXUO published the interview in 2026.

Esquire reported on August 12, 2026, that TAG Heuer had released two Formula 1 Solargraph Zandvoort editions. Its account identifies the TH50-00 movement, 100 m water resistance, up to 10 months of operation in darkness after a full charge, and a claim that one minute in direct sunlight provides a day’s power. Does a later Solargraph model answer the 2024 tease?
Not conclusively. The public record establishes that TAG Heuer expanded Solargraph across Formula 1 and Aquaracer, and that the brand later presented Formula 1 Solargraph as a fresh interpretation of the collection. It does not directly connect a specific subsequent release to the unnamed “something very interesting” Biebuyck anticipated. The sound reading is that he signaled future applications for Solargraph, while the exact product he meant remains unidentified in the cited sources.
