What TAG Heuer’s 2025 return means
Formula 1 announced on 6 January 2025 that TAG Heuer would again serve as the championship’s Official Timekeeper, beginning with the 2025 season. The announcement came as Formula 1 began its ten-year global partnership with LVMH and marked the championship’s 75th anniversary. Formula 1’s announcement described the appointment as a return to an established role, rather than a new relationship with motorsport.
Formula 1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali said, “I am delighted to welcome TAG Heuer as the Official Timekeeper of Formula 1 as they start the next stage of their long history in our sport.” TAG Heuer CEO Antoine Pin said, “In a sport defined by mental resilience, physical strength, strategy, innovation and performance it is only natural for TAG Heuer to be at the very heart of Formula 1 as Official Timekeeper.” The quotations were included in the announcement.
TAG Heuer’s earlier timekeeping tenure
TAG Heuer’s own historical account dates its previous F1 Official Timekeeper tenure to 1992–2003. It also describes a wider motorsport history, including Heuer’s work with Ferrari beginning in 1971 and later partnerships with McLaren and Red Bull. Those team relationships are distinct from serving as the championship’s official timekeeper; they should not be treated as the same role. Formula 1’s 2025 announcement attributed 230 wins, 595 podiums, 11 constructors’ championships and 14 drivers’ championships to TAG Heuer through its various team associations. These are figures associated with the brand’s broader team relationships, not a tally of results from its timekeeper role. Formula 1’s announcement also cited 1.5 billion viewers for the 2024 season; that is the organization’s own audience figure, not an independent measurement established here.
What was established at the 2025 Canadian Grand Prix
The Formula 1 Pirelli Grand Prix du Canada took place at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montréal from 13 to 15 June 2025. George Russell won the 70-lap race, with Max Verstappen second and Kimi Antonelli third. Formula 1’s race report records the event and result.

The timekeeping announcement set out season-wide plans that included trackside branding, Fan Zone and Paddock Club activations, and new product ranges. TAG Heuer later described pit-lane clocks and Monaco clocks for the 2025 season. These statements establish intended or season-level activity, but they do not identify a particular TAG Heuer display or activation at the Canadian Grand Prix. The available account of the activation scope does not provide that event-specific confirmation.

TAG Heuer’s Formula 1-branded watches are consumer products; they are not the clocks or timing systems used to time the championship. TAG Heuer’s official 2025 brochure documents a 38 mm Formula 1 Solargraph collection with different case and bracelet or strap options. It is a product reference, not evidence of current stock or of a particular watch being worn by a driver at the Canadian race. The official brochure describes the collection.
