The Bremont MBIII is a 43 mm GMT pilot’s watch shaped by Bremont’s collaboration with Martin-Baker, the British ejection-seat maker. Its second-time-zone hand and aviation-linked details are distinctive, but its most dramatic claim is the test program Bremont says the MB range faced—an account that should be understood as the companies’ description, not an independent test report. Bremont now marks the MBIII as retired from its catalogue, so buying one is a matter of finding remaining stock or a pre-owned example.
How the Martin-Baker partnership led to the MBIII
Martin-Baker says it approached Bremont in 2007 to create an aviation watch that would undergo testing modeled on the rigours its ejection seats face. The companies combined Martin-Baker’s testing, materials and design knowledge with Bremont’s watchmaking expertise. Martin-Baker says the first watch, the MBI, appeared two years later; Bremont dates the MBIII launch to March 2014.
The MBI and MBIII have different audiences. Martin-Baker describes the MBI as reserved for pilots who have ejected using a Martin-Baker seat. The MBII and MBIII, by contrast, are available to all. The MBIII is the generally available GMT model in this story—not an MBI with the same eligibility rules.
What the MBIII does—and what it does not
A second time zone, not a chronograph
The MBIII’s practical distinction is its 24-hour GMT hand, which Bremont says lets the wearer keep track of two time zones simultaneously. It also displays hours, minutes, seconds and the date at 3 o’clock. Bremont describes it as a non-chronograph GMT: it provides a second-time-zone display, not a stopwatch function.

Movement and core specifications
Bremont lists a modified BE-93-2AE automatic chronometer movement with 21 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 beats per hour and a 42-hour power reserve. The company specifies a 43 mm hardened stainless-steel case, 22 mm lug width, Trip-Tick construction and a colored barrel. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements.

Design details borrowed from ejection-seat hardware
The colored barrel is more than a visual accent in Bremont’s account. The company says its knurled effect echoes components on Martin-Baker ejection seats. A yellow-and-black loop at the end of the seconds hand references the seat’s ejection pull handle. The bronze-aluminium barrel option was inspired by the anti-reflective coating on cockpit canopies associated with military watch projects; Bremont’s launch account also lists anthracite and orange barrel options.

Bremont’s historical explanation connects those looks to the watch’s construction as well. The company describes a flexible ring within the Trip-Tick case that lets the movement and mechanism “float” in a controlled way, intended to reduce shock reaching the movement. It also says a soft-iron inner case is intended to shield the movement from magnetic fields.
What Bremont says the MB range was tested against
Bremont says testing for the MB range covered shock, vibration, temperature extremes, salt fog, altitude and live ejection launches. Its published descriptions give the following examples:

- Altitude: a simulation of 100,000 feet for 60 minutes, followed by a rapid descent.
- Temperature: −40°C for 24 hours, followed by +40°C for another 24 hours.
- Vibration: a test Bremont says simulated a 30-year helicopter life.
- Salt fog and humidity: a test Bremont describes as simulating conditions on an aircraft-carrier deck.
- Live ejection launches: Bremont says the watches were exposed to the extreme forces involved.
These are test parameters and descriptions published by Bremont, not independent verification of the MBIII’s performance. They explain the collaboration’s premise, but they do not establish a separate laboratory result or a broader guarantee about how an individual watch will perform today.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is the Bremont MBIII discontinued?
Yes. Bremont’s product page marks the MBIII as retired from its catalogue. That means current availability should be treated as a remaining-stock or secondary-market question; the product page alone does not establish that a particular retailer has a new or pre-owned example in stock. For any listing, check the seller, condition, service history, included papers and whether the watch is the specific MBIII configuration advertised.

- Quartz GMT Movement - When used in conjunction with the black and blue rotating bezel, the two-blue and white triangle GMT hand can be used to track a second time zone.
- Stainless-steel - The stainless-steel case and bracelet are resistant to corrosion, rust, and daily wear and tear.
- Date Window - Easily track the date in a dedicated window beside 3 o'clock.
- Enhanced Visibility - Luminant hands ensure readability in low-light conditions.
Bremont lists a 22 mm lug width, which can help when searching for a replacement strap, but width alone does not confirm attachment or material compatibility. Verify the fit for the individual watch before ordering.
