The SOS button setting also replaces the double-press function that rings a misplaced phone.
It is a Bluetooth finder for keys, bags, luggage, and other belongings—not a GPS tracker or a guarantee that a lost item can be located from hundreds of feet away.

Its support comparison lists the dimensions, weight, 500-foot maximum, 110 dB ring, replaceable battery lasting up to a year, and IP68 rating. Life360 says the replaceable battery can be any compatible coin cell; the cited support information does not identify an exact cell model. Check the manual or battery door before buying a replacement. See Tile’s official model documentation.
What makes the Tile Pro different?
The Tile Pro is the premium model in the 2024 Tile range. Its key advantages are practical:
#1 Best Overall
- OUR MOST POWERFUL TRACKER: What you love, located. Pro protects lost or stolen stuff—all from the same app you use to keep your people and pets safe. Attach Tile Pro to keys, golf bags, and more
- STAY SAFE WITH SOS: Keep stuff safe, and people and pets protected. Discreetly trigger an SOS to keep your loved ones safe in any situation
- FIND YOUR THINGS: Ring your misplaced Tile, or track it down in the free app
- FIND YOUR PHONE: Phone hiding under a cushion? Use your Tile to make it ring — even when silenced
- USE WITH LIFE360: Track everything—and everyone you love—a top family connection and safety app. Add your Tiles to see all you love on one map
- A built-in key-ring attachment: It can attach directly to keys, a bag, luggage, or a case.
- A loud alert: Life360 rates the speaker at 110 dB, a published specification rather than an independent measurement.
- A replaceable battery: Life360 says replaceable Tile batteries last up to one year and accept a compatible coin cell.
- Cross-platform app support: It works through the Life360 app on both iOS and Android.
- Optional SOS capability: Life360 lists SOS functionality for 2024 Tile models in its app.
That combination makes the Pro a reusable Bluetooth key finder for people who want a loud ring and replaceable battery. Its app compatibility is cross-platform; it is not exclusive to Android.
Range: do not buy it for the 500-foot number
Life360 lists a maximum range of up to 500 feet. That is a manufacturer-stated maximum, not a dependable everyday distance. Walls, floors, vehicles, crowds, interference, and the orientation of the tracker and phone can affect Bluetooth performance.
Tom’s Guide reported that the Pro fell short of the 500-foot figure in its testing, though it stayed connected farther away than the standard Tile in that reviewer’s experience. The result is the publication’s observation, not a universal limit or a test conducted for this review. Tom’s Guide’s review provides the testing context.
The practical conclusion: expect the Tile Pro to help find something that is probably nearby. It may work farther away in favorable conditions, but it is not a reliable long-distance locator. Indoor and crowded environments can further reduce usable distance.
How the Tile Pro finds a nearby item
When the tracker is within Bluetooth range, use the Life360 app to ring it. The Pro plays an audible alert, which is useful for finding keys behind a cushion, a bag in another room, or nearby luggage.
The Pro also supports two-way finding: press its button twice quickly to ring the connected phone. However, Tom’s Guide reports that setting the button for SOS means losing the double-press action that rings the phone. You cannot use that button assignment for both jobs at once. See Tile’s support instructions for the phone-finding setting.

Tile Network and Android
Being paired with an Android phone does not by itself make the Tile Pro part of Google’s native Find My Device network. The product works through the Life360 app, which supports Android and iOS. If a particular crowdsourced finding network matters to you, verify that network’s compatibility in the product listing before you buy.
For nearby finding, the app can ring a Tile over Bluetooth. A lost tracker’s recovery beyond Bluetooth range depends on the Tile/Life360 app and network behavior; it is not continuous GPS tracking. Consider where and how you expect to use the tracker, and check current app and network details before purchase.
What the Tile app can do without a subscription
Tile’s support page says core finding functions are available without a paid subscription. These include:
- Ringing the Tile when it is within Bluetooth range.
- Viewing the Tile’s last known location.
- Using Notify When Found.
- Using the Tile Network.
- Using Tile Detector.
- Finding the connected phone from the Tile.
Not every function works the same way offline. Ringing nearby and finding the phone rely on Bluetooth; network location updates require connectivity. Consult Tile’s connectivity documentation for current requirements.
The Tile Pro does not continuously report its position like a GPS tracker. The app may show a last known location or a later update through the Tile Network.
Life360 and the SOS feature
Life360 lists SOS capability for 2024 Tile models in its app. This may suit someone already using Life360 who wants a physical button for an SOS workflow, but it is a configuration choice: Tom’s Guide reports that assigning the button to SOS displaces the double-press function for ringing the phone.

Do not treat SOS as a replacement for a dedicated emergency device or guaranteed response. Its use depends on app setup, connectivity, and the configured contacts. Tile says core finding functions are available without a paid subscription, but check current Life360 features and plan terms before relying on them. See Tile’s no-subscription support page.
Battery: the Pro’s strongest ownership advantage
The Tile Pro has a replaceable coin-cell battery, and Life360 rates replaceable Tile batteries for up to one year. Actual battery life can vary. The support information reviewed for this article does not specify the exact battery type for model T1701, so check the manual or the battery door before buying a replacement.
Follow the current Tile battery instructions when replacing it. Close the battery door correctly afterward; the manufacturer says the device is not meant for underwater use, and improper closure can affect operation.
A replaceable battery can appeal to owners who prefer to keep a tracker and replace its cell rather than replace the whole device. If lower upfront cost matters more, compare the Tile Mate, keeping in mind that its battery is sealed and listed for up to three years, depending on model.

Sound and precision finding
The Pro’s 110 dB ring is one of its main practical advantages, according to Life360’s published specification. Tom’s Guide reported that the alarm remained audible from 80 feet away in a noisy public park. That is the reviewer’s test observation, not a guaranteed hearing distance.
The dossier does not establish UWB precision-finding support for the Pro. Do not buy it expecting directional arrows or an exact-distance pointer; check the specific product’s feature list if those capabilities are important to you.
Water resistance and everyday attachment
Life360 lists the 2024 Pro as IP68. Its support guidance says Tile models can withstand splashes and immersion to 1 m (3 ft) for up to 30 minutes, but explicitly says they are not meant for underwater use. Water resistance is not a reason to deliberately submerge the tracker. Follow the battery-door instructions after replacement.

The built-in key-ring hole is convenient for keys and also works with a suitable ring or loop on a bag, suitcase, case, or equipment pouch. The Pro weighs 12 g, according to Life360’s specifications.
Tile Pro versus Tile Mate
| Feature | Tile Pro (2024) | Tile Mate (2024) |
|---|---|---|
| Model | T1701 | T1801 |
| Listed maximum range | Up to 500 feet | Up to 350 feet |
| Listed ring volume | 110 dB | 100 dB |
| Battery | Replaceable compatible coin cell; up to one year | Sealed, non-replaceable; up to three years, depending on model |
| Water rating | IP68 | IP68 |
These are Life360’s listed specifications, not directly comparable independent measurements. The Pro’s listed advantages are a higher maximum range, louder ring, and replaceable battery. The Mate may suit buyers who accept its lower listed range and volume and prefer a sealed battery. Tom’s Guide reported that the Pro stayed connected farther away than the standard Tile in its testing, but the advertised maximum should not be treated as a normal result.
Price and value
Life360’s direct U.S. store showed the Tile Pro at $34.99 for one, $59.99 for two, and $99.99 for four when the research was retrieved. These are point-in-time direct-store prices, not a promise of current pricing or an Amazon price. Check the live listing, seller, availability, and bundle before ordering.
The Pro’s value is strongest for buyers who want its loud ring, replaceable battery, and IP68 rating, and who accept that actual Bluetooth range may fall short of the stated maximum. It is a weaker fit if you want the lowest initial cost or a different battery approach. Android Central’s comparison of keychain trackers offers context on alternatives, but its prices and competitor specifications should be rechecked before purchase: Android Central’s comparison.
If those advantages match your needs, the Tile Pro (2024) Bluetooth tracker is worth considering. Verify the exact model, seller, availability, and current price before ordering.

Who should buy the Tile Pro?
It is a good fit for:
- People who use Android or iOS and want a tracker supported by the Life360 app.
- People who want a tracker that attaches directly to a key ring.
- Owners who prefer a replaceable coin-cell battery.
- Users who value a loud audible alert for nearby recovery.
- People already using Life360 who may want its optional SOS workflow.
- Anyone tracking keys, bags, luggage, or equipment that is usually nearby.
Look elsewhere if you need:
- A guaranteed 500-foot everyday connection or continuous GPS tracking.
- UWB directional finding, unless the product’s current specifications confirm it.
- The lowest possible upfront price.
- A rechargeable USB-C battery instead of a replaceable coin cell.
How to decide in 30 seconds
- Want cross-platform app support? The Life360 app supports iOS and Android.
- Want a replaceable battery and loud ring? Those are among the Pro’s clearest advantages.
- Expect to connect at 500 feet? Treat that as a manufacturer maximum; Tom’s Guide reported a shorter test result.
- Want to use SOS and ring your phone with the button? The button assignment is a tradeoff; Tom’s Guide reports SOS replaces the double-press phone-finding action.
- Need live location tracking? Choose a dedicated GPS/cellular product, not a Bluetooth item tracker.
Final review verdict
The Tile Pro (2024) is a worthwhile option for a specific buyer: someone who wants a loud ring, replaceable battery, and IP68-rated housing in a tracker supported on iOS and Android through Life360. Its optional SOS workflow may also appeal to Life360 users, provided they understand the button-setting tradeoff.
Its 500-foot range is a stated maximum rather than an everyday promise, and independent testing reported a shorter result. Choose it for the ownership features that matter to you, not on the assumption that it guarantees long-distance recovery.
