Tool Watch Co. makes several kinds of functional watches, so its quality and suitability depend on the model. Recent reviews highlight two 38 mm chronographs—the Lumecore Chronograph MKII and Chroma—while older reviews cover a titanium field watch and a 300 m-rated diver. The chronographs share a Seiko VK64 meca-quartz movement, but differ in dial design; the reviewed Diver uses an automatic Miyota movement and is built for a different job.
What does Tool Watch Co. make?
Reviews describe a range spanning field, dive, pilot, chronograph and GMT watches. Named examples include the Arctic Field, AMA Diver, Rally Chronograph and Goodman GMT. That establishes breadth across the brand’s reviewed designs, not that every model is currently for sale. Watch Country and Beans & Bezels cover different parts of the range.
The available review accounts also conflict on the brand’s founding year: one says 2020 and another says 2021. Without an official confirmation, a definitive founding date is not established. Beans & Bezels names Pieter Jansen van Rensburg as founder.
How do the Lumecore MKII and Chroma compare?
Both are reviewed as 38 mm chronographs with a Seiko VK64 meca-quartz movement. The key distinction in the coverage is dial character: the Lumecore MKII review emphasizes a full-lume Flint White dial, while the Chroma is presented as a colorful family with several variants.

| Lumecore Chronograph MKII | 38 mm diameter; 46.4 mm lug-to-lug; 12.3 mm thick including crystal; 20 mm lug width; Seiko VK64 meca-quartz movement. Microbrand Watch World, August 29, 2026. | The review describes a Flint White dial with full BGW9 Super-LumiNova, dark skeletonized hands and quick-release strap bars. It says the MKII adds an acrylic crystal, increased water resistance and an FKM rubber strap. The reviewer’s hands-on impressions and photos are of the original Lumecore, so not every tactile observation is a fresh MKII test. The extract does not give a numeric MKII water-resistance rating. |
| Chroma Chronograph | 38 mm case; Seiko VK64 movement. Watch Country, April 1, 2026. | Watch Country describes blue, green, pink and orange versions, and also mentions a full-lume white version. Beans & Bezels reviews a green Chroma and characterizes it as sharing a basic platform with the Lumecore while having a different dial personality. |
Microbrand Watch World’s MKII article said its own shop was accepting pre-orders when the review was published. That is not confirmation of current Tool Watch Co. stock or a current brand sales program. Watch Country’s reference to small batches likewise should not be read as a live inventory update.
Fit: look beyond the 38 mm diameter
Case diameter is only one part of how a watch wears. Lug-to-lug length indicates how far the case spans across the wrist, while thickness affects how high it sits. Compare those dimensions with a watch you already find comfortable, and consider wrist shape as well as circumference.

The Lumecore MKII review reports a 46.4 mm lug-to-lug and 12.3 mm thickness alongside its 38 mm diameter. For context, Fratello’s older Diver review lists 41.5 × 48 × 12.8 mm, making it larger across the wrist and thicker by those reported measurements. The Diver is a different model, not a larger version of the same chronograph. Fratello, June 1, 2023.
Movement, water resistance and intended use
The Seiko VK64 is identified in reviews of both recent chronographs as a meca-quartz movement. The Diver review instead specifies a Miyota 9039 automatic movement with a stated 42-hour power reserve. Fratello’s 2021 Arctic review discusses a Sellita SW200. These are model-specific specifications, not one movement used throughout the brand. Beans & Bezels also describes the original Lumecore as a meca-quartz chronograph.

Choose by the job you expect the watch to do rather than assuming that a chronograph is also a dive watch. Fratello reports 300 m water resistance for the 2023 Diver, while Beans & Bezels gives the original Lumecore a 30 m rating. The MKII review says water resistance increased, but does not state a number in the reviewed extract. Do not apply either original Lumecore’s figure or the Diver’s rating to the MKII; check the exact model’s current specification before relying on it for water exposure.
Older models: the Arctic and Diver
Arctic Field
Fratello’s 2021 review reports a 38 mm titanium case with an anti-scratch coating, 11.35 mm thickness, 46.35 mm lug-to-lug, 20 mm lug width, sapphire crystal and natural meteorite dial. It discusses a Sellita SW200 and unusual hands; those comments and measurements belong to the reviewed Arctic, not the current catalog as a whole. The reviewer explicitly did not test the bracelet. The review says a strap-changing tool was included. Its US$295 campaign price and US$500 post-campaign price were Indiegogo launch terms reported in 2023—not current price guidance. Fratello, June 1, 2023.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Can you change the strap?
The Lumecore MKII review lists a 20 mm lug width and quick-release bars; Fratello reports a 20 mm lug width for the Arctic. A 20 mm replacement strap is therefore a plausible fit for those specific models, but check the exact watch’s lug width and attachment hardware before buying. The MKII review also lists an FKM rubber strap as a model change. The Diver review says its package included a strap-changing tool; that does not establish that the same accessory comes with other models.

Is Tool Watch Co. worth considering?
The reviews make the brand worth a closer look if you want a small-case chronograph, a field-watch design or a more substantial diver, but there is no single brand-wide verdict that fits those different watches. The Lumecore MKII and Chroma offer distinct dial approaches on a reported shared movement type; the older Arctic and Diver show how much the brand’s materials, dimensions and intended use can vary. Treat the independent reviews as evidence about the particular watches they cover, not as confirmation of today’s full catalog, retail terms or every generation’s specifications.
Current price, stock, shipping, returns, warranty and servicing arrangements are not established by the cited reviews. Verify those details with Tool Watch Co. before purchase.
