If you want an Apple Watch-style square face with an Android phone, the best choices are mostly fitness-first watches—not full Wear OS smartwatches. The strongest options are the Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro, Huawei Watch Fit 4, Amazfit Bip 6, Fitbit Versa 4 and Garmin Venu Sq 2. They pair with Android, but their apps, payments and phone features vary by model and country.
Here, “square” includes rectangular cases and displays. The shortlist excludes round watches and basic bands, and distinguishes watches with built-in GPS from devices that rely more heavily on a phone. For a full Play Store, Google Wallet or deeper Google integration, a circular Wear OS watch may be the better fit.

GPS claims are not interchangeable: built-in GPS lets a watch record a route without the phone; connected GPS uses the phone’s location. Battery figures are manufacturers’ estimates, not directly comparable test results. Always-on display, GPS, calls, music and frequent sensor use can shorten runtime.
What counts as a square smartwatch?
For this guide, a square smartwatch has a visibly square or rectangular case and display, pairs with a phone, and does more than basic step counting. Product names can be misleading: many watches marketed as square are actually rectangular. The round CMF Watch 3 Pro is not included despite its low US price signal, GPS and battery claim: its display is circular. A basic band such as Samsung Galaxy Fit3 is also a different category from a smartwatch.

Huawei’s cited Pro page is for the UK, not a universal US buying or support page. App services, payments, features and warranty can differ by market, so verify the exact model and service availability where you live. Screen, fit and core specifications
The standard Watch Fit 4 is a light rectangular watch with a 1.82-inch AMOLED display at 480 × 408 resolution. Huawei lists dimensions of 43.0 × 38.0 × 9.5 mm and a weight of about 27 g without the strap. Huawei claims peak brightness of 2,000 nits. It has built-in GNSS, wireless charging, a speaker and microphone, and a rotating crown. Huawei lists Android 8.0 or later compatibility. Its battery claim is up to 10 days maximum or 7 days typical under specified test conditions; heavier use can reduce that. The same page lists 5 ATM water resistance. Huawei says that rating does not mean the watch is suitable for diving to 50 metres; its described uses include shallow-water activities such as pool swimming.
Who should choose it
Choose the Fit 4 if you want a modern, lightweight rectangular display, independent GPS and longer claimed battery life without paying for the Pro model’s additional positioning. It is still a proprietary fitness watch rather than a direct replacement for a Pixel Watch or Galaxy Watch: app, payment, music and mapping availability depend on region and do not match Wear OS by default.

3. Amazfit Bip 6: best budget pick
What you get
Amazfit’s US product page listed the Bip 6 at $79.99 and advertises an AMOLED screen, built-in GPS, 5 ATM water resistance, more than 140 workout modes, downloadable maps and up to 14 days of battery life. The software trade-off
The Bip 6 pairs through the Zepp app and runs Zepp OS. It is a compelling low-cost choice if you chiefly want a rectangular screen, GPS and workout tracking, but Zepp OS has a narrower app ecosystem and less Android-native interaction than Wear OS. The advertised workout count does not establish that each mode provides equally detailed metrics. Check the current Zepp app requirements for your phone before purchase.

The Versa 4 has a comfortable rectangular design and suits people who already use Fitbit’s activity, sleep and wellness platform or want a straightforward everyday fitness watch. Battery and value
Garmin’s US comparison page gives up to 12 days in smartwatch mode, while a regional product page gives up to 11 days. Treat these as page- and configuration-dependent manufacturer estimates, not a single guaranteed runtime. Garmin Pay depends on supported country, watch version, bank and card. Connect IQ compatibility and available apps should be checked against Garmin’s supported-device reference. The Venu Sq 2 is an older generation with fewer conventional smartwatch apps than Wear OS, so it makes most sense at a meaningful discount or for someone already invested in Garmin Connect.

What the shape costs you versus Wear OS
Android compatibility is not the same as deep Android integration. These rectangular choices may pair successfully while offering fewer apps, less capable message interaction and less consistent access to Google services than a Wear OS watch. Before buying, check the exact model and country for:
- Google Wallet or other contactless payment support, including your bank and card.
- Whether messages can be replied to, not just mirrored as notifications.
- Calling from the watch, and whether it requires the phone to remain nearby.
- Offline music, maps, voice assistance and third-party apps rather than basic phone controls.
- Health-platform syncing, including whether the watch supports the services you already use.
- LTE: do not assume phone-free cellular service unless the exact model and carrier explicitly support it.
If Google Wallet, broad Play Store apps, Gmail interaction or Google Assistant/Gemini are priorities, start with a circular Wear OS model instead.
