The Tudor Black Bay Bronze is a 43 mm bronze dive watch powered by the self-winding Manufacture Calibre MT5601, with a 70-hour power reserve and 200 m water resistance. One reference detail needs checking: TUDOR’s current product pages identify the slate-grey models as M79250BA-0001 and M79250BA-0002, while its launch material uses 79250BA. The official sources do not identify “79250BM” as a manufacturer reference, so confirm the number on the watch, paperwork, or seller’s listing before buying.

What does the 79250BM reference mean?

The title’s “79250BM” does not match the reference numbers shown in TUDOR’s official materials. The brand’s current slate-grey Black Bay Bronze pages list M79250BA-0001 and M79250BA-0002. TUDOR’s launch press release uses the earlier reference 79250BA. The available official sources do not explain the “BM” suffix, so it should not be treated as a verified reference without checking the watch and its documentation.

TUDOR describes the Black Bay Bronze as a 43 mm divers’ watch inspired by its naval history. The slate-grey versions pair a bronze case and bezel with a slate-grey dial and the MT5601 movement, according to the brand’s Black Bay Bronze family page.

What movement is in the Tudor Black Bay Bronze?

The current M79250BA models use TUDOR Manufacture Calibre MT5601, a self-winding mechanical movement with a bidirectional rotor. TUDOR lists the movement as COSC-certified and gives an approximate 70-hour power reserve. Its family page describes a variable-inertia balance, a traversing bridge fixed at two points, and a non-magnetic silicon balance spring.

TUDOR’s 2019 launch release for reference 79250BA lists a frequency of 28,800 beats per hour (4 Hz), 25 jewels, and a movement thickness of 6.5 mm. These are specifications stated in that launch document, rather than results of independent testing. The same release gives the calibre’s diameter as 33.8 mm and its reserve as approximately 70 hours.

TUDOR reserves the right to change prices and models, so the displayed suggested retail figure is not a guaranteed transaction price. Compare the exact reference, included strap, condition, seller, price at purchase, and warranty eligibility rather than assuming the strap difference is the only consideration in a particular listing.

Bronze case and patina

TUDOR says the case uses a high-performance aluminium bronze alloy and develops a characteristic patina over time. Patina is part of the material’s changing appearance, but the brand’s cited information does not specify how quickly it develops or what colour an individual watch will reach. The brand says it introduced its first bronze model in 2016.

What to check before buying or choosing a strap

  • Match the reference: Reconcile any “79250BM” listing with the reference on the watch and its paperwork. The current official slate-grey references are M79250BA-0001 and M79250BA-0002.
  • Confirm what is included: Check whether the watch comes with the black leather or fabric strap, and assess its condition alongside the case and other components.
  • Check seller and guarantee: Verify seller status, current price, and regional guarantee coverage and eligibility directly at purchase time. TUDOR’s product pages provide purchase and retailer actions; they do not establish the status of an unrelated marketplace listing.
  • Verify replacement strap fit: TUDOR lists a 23 mm lug width, which is a useful starting point for an accessory search, not proof that every 23 mm strap fits correctly. Confirm the end shape, spring bars, buckle, and clearance for the specific strap and watch.

TUDOR’s design-history notes say the dial draws on the brand’s 1950s divers’ watches and that its angular “Snowflake” hands appeared in the 1969 catalogue. These are the manufacturer’s descriptions of the design’s inspiration and history.
