The record wording is the brand and event’s claim; the available sources do not establish an independent comparison across the whole dive-watch market.
What makes the Diver [AIR] unusually light?
The Diver [AIR] is a 44 mm automatic dive watch with a reported mass of 52 g including its strap. Forbes reports 46 g without the strap, while Ulysse Nardin’s 2025 video description says “under 46g” without it. The small difference reflects how the two sources state the figure; neither supplies a weighing protocol.
Low mass is achieved through a combination of material choices and an open, skeletonized construction rather than a smaller case. The case middle is reported to use 90% recycled titanium. NyloFoil and CarbonFoil also feature in the case and bezel; Time+Tide describes NyloFoil as 60% recycled fishing nets and 40% upcycled carbon fibre. These are reported composition and sourcing claims, not independently audited environmental results.

How the movement and construction support the design
The Diver [AIR] uses the automatic UN-374 caliber, with a reported 90-hour power reserve and silicon escapement. Forbes reports that the caliber weighs 7 g. Its skeletonized design leaves much of the movement visible and contributes to the watch’s open, lightweight construction.

Ulysse Nardin states that the watch can withstand impacts of 5,000 g. That figure should be read as a manufacturer performance claim: the cited launch coverage does not provide a detailed test method or independent verification. The 200 m water-resistance rating and screw-down crown are listed launch specifications, not a substitute for following the manufacturer’s operating and maintenance guidance.
Is it independently verified as the world’s lightest?
Not by the evidence cited here. Watches & Wonders Geneva’s official 2025 page calls the Diver [AIR] “the lightest mechanical dive watch ever made,” and Ulysse Nardin uses similarly strong language in its launch materials. Those sources support reporting the claim with attribution, but they do not establish a market-wide independent weighing comparison. The weight figures are also reported with and without the strap, so comparisons with other watches would need to use the same basis.

Time+Tide reported a US$38,000 price and “available now” at launch in April 2025. Those are historical launch details, not a current quote or confirmation of stock. Current pricing and regional availability have not been established here.
Time+Tide lists the watch with orange and white elastic fabric straps, but the cited launch information does not give strap-fitting dimensions, replacement-part stock or third-party compatibility.
