Universal Genève’s November 2025 Tribute to Compax release was reported as two one-off sets of three chronographs, not six watches offered separately as regular production. Each set was available by request for a reported CHF 135,000 before sales tax. Those terms are dated reports, not confirmation of current availability or pricing.
What are the two Tribute to Compax sets?
Fratello reported on November 10, 2025 that Universal Genève presented two sets, each containing three watches. The watches were not sold individually; the sets were available exclusively by request. The Watch Pages also described the release as sets. Neither report establishes whether either set can still be requested today.
The six configurations combine 18k white- and red-gold cases with panda, reverse-panda, brown, and blue dials. The references and reported set groupings are:
| Set | Reference | Case metal | Dial |
|---|---|---|---|
| First | JU281121A1X1 | White gold | Panda |
| First | RU281121B1X1 | Red gold | Reverse panda |
| First | RU281121Q1X1 | Red gold | Brown |
| Second | JU281121B1X1 | White gold | Reverse panda |
| Second | RU281121A1X1 | Red gold | Panda |
| Second | JU281121C1X1 | White gold | Blue |
Fratello’s report describes the panda and reverse-panda dials as combinations of white and black; the other colors are brown and blue. It characterizes the white and black enamel as opaque and the blue and brown enamel as translucent.

Why the Nina Rindt connection matters
The Tribute revisits the Compax associated with Nina Rindt, who was often photographed timing her husband Jochen Rindt’s racing laps with a Universal Genève chronograph. Collectors later nicknamed the watch “the Nina.”
Fratello recounts a story that Jochen replaced the chronograph’s seconds hand with a red one to make it easier to read, and that Nina wore the watch on a broad leather cuff, or Bund strap. The red-hand change is presented as legend, not established archival fact. The Tribute’s link to Nina is the design story; the available reporting does not turn every detail of that anecdote into verified history.

Movement and construction
The modern watches are reported to use restored Universal Genève Caliber 281 movements. Fratello describes the 281 as a manual-winding, column-wheel chronograph and says six movements from the original Compax era were revived for the release. The Watch Pages likewise identifies the movement as a restored Universal 281; its listing for reference JU281121B1X1 describes that model as 36 mm, white gold, and manual-winding.
This is distinct from the movement Fratello attributes to the 1960s Compax original: a Valjoux 72. The Tribute therefore draws on the earlier watch’s design and story, but its reported movement provenance is not the same as that of the cited 1960s model.

The dials are Grand Feu enamel. The Bund straps were reportedly handcrafted by Japanese leather artisan Satoru Hosoi from three calfskin pieces sewn together so they cannot be separated. That bespoke construction is a feature of the Tribute strap, not evidence that an ordinary replacement strap will fit or reproduce it.

Fratello reported a price of CHF 135,000 per three-watch set before sales tax, with access by request rather than individual watch sales. The figure and sales arrangement describe the offer reported in November 2025; neither source confirms present-day stock, current pricing, or whether requests are still being accepted. A current brand confirmation would be needed to establish that.
