The updated 62MAS-inspired Seiko Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver is the 2024 SPB453 in black or SPB451 in blue: a 40mm automatic diver with Seiko’s stated 300m water resistance and a 72-hour power reserve. Those are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results. The title does not identify which reference appears in the video, so check the dial color or reference before applying model-specific details.
Which Seiko 1965 diver is this?
Seiko’s 2024 1965 Heritage line comprises the black-dial SPB453 and blue-dial SPB451, with SPB455 as a special edition. Seiko describes the family as a modern reinterpretation of its original 1965 Diver’s. The brand lists the references and line specifications on its 1965 Heritage page.

“62MAS” is the familiar name associated with Seiko’s 1965 original. Seiko calls that watch “Seiko’s, and Japan’s, first diver’s watch” in its 2023 historical release. The original had an automatic movement and 150m water resistance; Seiko says members of the Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition used it from 1966 to 1969.
What changed on the 2024 Heritage models?
The SPB453/SPB451 generation pairs the 62MAS-inspired design with a compact case profile, a newer movement and a higher stated water-resistance rating than the original. Seiko’s 2024 specifications are:

These are Seiko Watch Corporation’s published 2024 line specifications, not measurements or test results from this review. In particular, the 300m diver’s rating is the manufacturer’s stated rating; it should not be read as evidence of an independent underwater test.
How is the bracelet and fit designed?
Seiko says the bracelet uses shorter links and a smaller clasp as part of the updated compact design. The case’s 46.4mm lug-to-lug measurement is a useful comparison point alongside its 40mm diameter, though dimensions alone cannot establish how a watch will sit on an individual wrist.

Seiko separately described a clasp with 15mm of adjustment in six 2.5mm steps for its 2025 anniversary creations. That detail should not be assumed to apply to every 2024 SPB453 or SPB451; confirm the clasp specification for the exact reference and version being considered.
Do not confuse it with the SJE093 re-creation
Seiko also sells a distinct 1965 Diver’s Re-creation, reference SJE093. It is not the 300m SPB453/SPB451 Heritage model. Seiko’s 2023 SJE093 release specifies a 38mm case, 12.5mm thickness, automatic Caliber 6L37, 45-hour power reserve and 200m diver’s water resistance.

What about the later limited editions?
Seiko has announced other 1965-inspired references since the 2024 base models. They are separate releases, not alternate names for the SPB453 or SPB451.
- SPB511: Seiko announced this 2025 limited edition in a run of 6,000 pieces. Details are in the brand’s 2025 announcement.
- HBC011: Seiko’s 2026 announcement describes a fan-selected limited edition of 4,500 pieces, with a US recommended retail price of $1,400. That is a published US MSRP, not a verified current street price. The announcement gave planned availability in October 2026; check Seiko or an authorized retailer for live availability. Is the updated Seiko 62MAS worth considering?
The SPB453 and SPB451 make the clearest case for someone who wants the 1965 Seiko diver design in a modern 300m-rated Prospex with a 72-hour reserve and a 40mm case. The SJE093 is the more compact and historically styled re-creation on the published figures, but it has a different movement and a 200m rating. Decide between them by reference, dimensions and specifications—not by treating “62MAS” as one interchangeable model.

The available official specifications do not establish measured accuracy, lume duration, comfort on a particular wrist or performance in a dive. Regional stock and current street prices also depend on retailer and date.
