The best hands-on account, published by aBlogtoWatch in 2014, examined early prototypes; later coverage and an owner review add production-era details, but none establishes whether the watch is currently made or available.
What the Abyssus Scuba 3000M is—and what “hands-on” means here
Visconti presented the Scuba Abyssus 3000M in 2014 as a mechanical dive watch with a monobloc case, thick sapphire crystal, helium release valve, and a stated 3,000 m / 300 ATM water-resistance rating. That rating is a specification repeated in launch-era coverage, not an independently verified pressure-test result. [aBlogtoWatch; WatchTime]
Ariel Adams’s aBlogtoWatch hands-on article, published July 8, 2014, explicitly describes the watches seen as early prototypes. Its assessment that Visconti was serious about making the watch a legitimate diver despite its wild design is the author’s characterization, not certification of dive performance. WatchTime covered the model on June 11, 2014. Together with a later owner review, those accounts provide historical product and wearing context rather than evidence of present-day manufacturing or support.
How large is it?
It is large by both stated dimensions and visual design. aBlogtoWatch reports a 45 mm case width excluding the crown and 17.5 mm thickness. A 2015 WatchTime overview gives 54.4 mm at the crown by 57.9 mm overall, also at 17.5 mm thick. These measurements use different conventions: the first excludes the crown, while the latter figures describe the broader footprint. They should not be read as competing case-width measurements. The case is not simply a conventional round diver made larger. Its sculpted sides, prominent crown arrangement, and exposed gear-like bezel edge make the watch look even more substantial. The owner-review author reports that the crown adds about 9.4 mm beyond the 45 mm case width on his steel example. That figure describes his example, not a separate standardized case dimension.
What are the reported specifications?
| Feature | Reported detail | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Water resistance | 3,000 m / 300 ATM | Maker-reported specification repeated in 2014 launch coverage; no independent pressure testing is established here. [aBlogtoWatch; WatchTime] |
| Case construction | Monobloc case | Described in launch-era coverage. [aBlogtoWatch; WatchTime] |
| Crystal | 5 mm sapphire | Reported specification, not an independent measurement. [aBlogtoWatch] |
| Helium release | Automatic helium release valve at 6 o’clock | Reported feature. [WatchTime] |
| Movement | Soprod A-10 family automatic; one owner-review example is identified as Soprod 9340/A10-2 | WatchTime gives the A-10 family; the more specific caliber identification applies to the reviewed watch. [WatchTime; WatchProSite] |

How do the crown and bezel locks work?
The locking crown and bezel are central to the Abyssus’s look and operation. The hands-on account draws attention to the unusual crown-and-bezel arrangement and its industrial appearance; the owner review also describes the crown as prominent and reports personal resistance when operating it. These accounts do not provide a standardized operating test or enough verified detail to prescribe a specific locking sequence.

- Crown: screw crown Bottom cover: screw-in bottom cover Waterproof: 3000 meters waterproof
That distinction matters if considering a used example: do not infer that a lock is engaged, or that a seal is sound, from appearance alone. Ask a qualified watchmaker familiar with the particular reference to assess its condition and operation before relying on it in water.
Steel, titanium, and bronze versions
WatchTime lists three material variants, their references, and a limited run of 399 pieces for each version. The sources do not give comparable weights or establish different technical performance by material.

|---|---|---|---|

| Bronze | W108-01-131-00 | 399 pieces | Material and reference are listed by WatchTime; comparative weight and wear differences are not stated. [WatchTime] |
The material names establish the obvious visual distinction, but the available coverage does not support a detailed comparison of how the three versions age, feel on the wrist, or perform. Verify the reference and case material on any specific watch rather than relying on a listing title or photographs alone.
Straps, bracelets, and historical pricing
Historical coverage mentions rubber straps, matching metal bracelets, and leather straps; the owner-review author describes a black rubber strap and a brown sharkskin strap, with a steel bracelet as an option. These are reported configurations from earlier coverage, not confirmation of current stock or universal fit. The sources do not establish replacement-strap compatibility, so confirm the exact reference and attachment dimensions before ordering a strap.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is it practical as an everyday watch?
Its technical claims and daily-wear practicality are separate questions. A 17.5 mm-thick case with a broad crown and a conspicuous bezel has a substantial wrist presence; the owner-review author comments on sleeve wear and crown resistance from personal experience, not a standardized fit test. Whether that is acceptable depends on the wearer’s wrist, clothing, and tolerance for a statement piece.

What is—and is not—known about buying one now
The cited coverage documents the watch’s 2014 introduction, listed references, and historical configurations. It does not establish current production, authorized inventory, service availability, warranty terms, present pricing, or compatible replacement parts. Treat any current listing as a specific pre-owned or new-old-stock claim to verify, not proof that the model remains in production.
Quick Recap
- Match the case material and reference number to the documented variant.
- Ask for clear photographs of the case, crown, bezel, movement documentation, and any included bracelet or straps.
- Have the watch’s identity, condition, crown and bezel operation, and water resistance assessed by a qualified specialist; the published rating is not a substitute for a current test of an individual watch.
- Confirm service options and parts availability directly before purchase, since the cited sources do not establish them.
