Where Audemars Piguet stands today
Audemars Piguet is an independent, family-owned watchmaker rooted in Switzerland’s Vallée de Joux. Ilaria Resta has served as CEO since January 2024, according to the company’s company history. AP reported production capacity of around 50,000 watches in 2025. That figure describes capacity at that time; it is not a forecast or a commitment to increase production.
More integrated manufacturing in Le Brassus
AP inaugurated its Manufacture in Le Brassus in January 2026. The company says the facility brings its main watchmaking skills under one roof and strengthens its integrated-manufacture model. This investment suggests a future in which more of the work behind a watch is coordinated within the company, while not establishing a particular production target.
AP’s company history also described a building for watch-case production in Meyrin as slated for completion in 2026. The available company material does not establish whether that project has since opened.

Artisan collaboration alongside in-house production
The Atelier des Établisseurs illustrates a complementary strand of AP’s approach: bringing independent craftspeople together with in-house expertise. The company presents it as a contemporary revival of an artisan-network model associated with its earlier history, and says it identifies the artisans behind each watch. AP presented the project’s first watches during its first participation in Watches and Wonders Geneva in 2026. The company framed the exhibition as a celebration of watchmaking skill, rather than a commercial reason to join the fair.
Together, the Le Brassus Manufacture and the Atelier des Établisseurs show two approaches that AP presents as compatible: integrated manufacturing and flexible collaboration with individual artisans. They indicate how the company wants to develop its watchmaking, but do not reveal how much of future production will follow either model.

The Royal Oak’s continuing role
The Royal Oak remains a defining part of AP’s heritage and public identity. In a Wallpaper* interview published on 5 October 2026, CEO Ilaria Resta called it “beyond an icon,” saying it “can survive the test of time; the test of materials and taste, and can live forever.” That is her view of the design’s cultural durability—not a forecast of future demand, sales, or product strategy.
Sustainability commitments and product longevity
AP organizes its sustainability framework around three pillars: Environment, People and Communities, and Governance. The company identifies six priorities: watchmaking savoir-faire, inclusivity, the well-being of local communities, climate change, raw materials, and business ethics, including human rights. Its sustainability overview sets out this framework.

Climate targets for 2030
AP says the Science Based Targets initiative validated its 2030 commitments in 2025. They include a 42% absolute reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, a 25% absolute reduction in mobility-related Scope 3 emissions, and science-based targets for suppliers by 2030. These are targets, not reductions already achieved. AP describes Scope 1 and 2 as direct and energy-related indirect emissions, and Scope 3 as value-chain emissions it can influence. The company explains the commitments on its climate page.
Materials, circularity, and keeping watches in use
AP describes its supply chain as compact and says it has a responsible-sourcing framework. In 2025, it introduced a product circularity plan and began an ongoing Life Cycle Assessment programme, according to its materials and circularity information. The company connects product longevity with maintenance and transmission: keeping a watch in use over time is part of its stated approach to material stewardship.

What these signals do—and do not—tell us
The clearest evidence points to investment in manufacturing in Le Brassus, continued experimentation with artisan collaboration, an enduring emphasis on the Royal Oak, and published environmental and social priorities. These strands are not presented by AP as competing choices; together, they describe its stated approach to making and sustaining watches.
They do not provide a reliable basis for predicting future revenue, sales, market share, production growth, or the proportion of future collections devoted to particular lines. The reported 2025 capacity figure is a scale indicator, and the 2030 emissions figures are commitments. Neither establishes commercial performance or what AP will release next.
