Time+Tide’s first Studio Discovery Sessions brought Ocean to Orbit and Zenith into its Melbourne Discovery Studio for informal weekend showcases. Visitors could meet brand representatives and see watches up close: Ocean to Orbit presented its inaugural Lhotse, while Zenith exhibited three 2024 novelties. Time+Tide reported that both sessions drew more people than expected, but did not publish an attendance count.

What were the Studio Discovery Sessions?

In a June 28, 2024 report, Time+Tide described the Studio Discovery Sessions as weekend brand showcases at its Melbourne Discovery Studio. The venue was presented as part watch boutique, creative studio and community clubhouse—a less formal alternative to a traditional watch fair or boutique visit. Visitors could meet people from the featured brands and see or handle their watches. Time+Tide’s June 28, 2024 report provides the account.

What did Ocean to Orbit show?

Ocean to Orbit was introduced as a new Melbourne microbrand founded by former automotive designers David and Siddhartha. At the session, the founders spoke about the brand’s progress and visitors got hands-on with its inaugural watch, the Lhotse. Time+Tide described the brand as small, with one watch in its range at the time of the event.

Which Zenith watches were on display?

The following weekend, Fiona Currie, identified in the report as Zenith Brand Manager for Australia and New Zealand, presented three 2024 Watches and Wonders novelties:

The report described Zenith as a 159-year-old Swiss watchmaker in 2024; that is the article’s characterization at publication, not a current age calculation.

How did the two sessions compare?

Session Brand context in the report Watches shown Visitor experience
Ocean to Orbit New Melbourne microbrand founded by former automotive designers; one watch in its range at the time Inaugural Lhotse Attendees could handle the watch and hear the founders discuss the brand’s progress

The contrast was in the brands’ histories and the watches presented, not a test or ranking of product quality. Both appeared in the same informal community setting.

What did Time+Tide report about attendance and future events?

Time+Tide said turnout at both sessions exceeded the team’s expectations and described the Discovery Studio as busy. It gave no numerical attendance figure. The team said it wanted to host more sessions with a wide range of brands and was planning other community events. The article also mentioned a Sydney pop-up planned for “this weekend.” Those were plans reported on June 28, 2024; this source does not establish whether they later took place or what the program looks like now.
