One UI 8 Watch beta access and the stable software rollout are separate from Samsung’s One UI 8 phone beta. Which features and updates are available depends on the watch model, feature, and region.
What happened to the One UI 7 Watch beta?
The Samsung sources reviewed for this article do not substantiate an official One UI 7 Watch beta announcement. That does not establish what Samsung may have planned internally, or prove that a beta was cancelled or never considered.
What Samsung did publicly document was One UI 8 Watch: a feature announcement and limited beta, followed by plans to expand availability beyond the Galaxy Watch8 series. Samsung’s later Galaxy Watch5 update history records a One UI 8 Watch upgrade.

The careful conclusion is that Samsung’s documented public rollout moved to One UI 8 Watch, and no official One UI 7 Watch beta announcement was found in the sources reviewed.

Was there a public One UI 7 Watch beta?
The official sources reviewed do not document a public One UI 7 Watch beta announcement. This is a limit of the evidence reviewed, not proof that Samsung had no internal plans or that it formally cancelled a program.
There was a documented One UI 8 Watch beta. Samsung Mobile Press said a limited number of Galaxy Watch users could try the features, with general eligibility for users in South Korea and the U.S. with Galaxy Watch5 or later. That broad beta eligibility did not mean every feature was available on every eligible watch.
Do not confuse the phone and watch betas
Samsung Developer’s May 28, 2025 announcement concerned the One UI 8 phone beta for Galaxy S25 series users in specified countries. Samsung Mobile Press separately described the One UI 8 Watch beta and its eligible watches. These are different programs; phone-beta details should not be presented as watch-beta information.

Which Galaxy Watches and features are covered?
Samsung’s beta announcement described general eligibility for Galaxy Watch5 or later in South Korea and the U.S. Samsung also specifies different eligibility for individual features. The table summarizes the distinctions in Samsung Mobile Press; it does not guarantee that every feature is available in every market or software release.

Samsung notes that feature availability can vary. Beta eligibility, a stable software update, and access to a particular health feature are not interchangeable guarantees.
What changes does One UI 8 Watch bring?
Samsung Mobile Press described Bedtime Guidance, Vascular Load, Running Coach, and Antioxidant Index among the One UI 8 Watch features. Samsung’s Galaxy Watch5 update history also lists changes including Now bar, double pinch, notification changes, bedtime guidance, mindfulness, custom tiles, and other interface updates.
Not every listed feature applies to every watch. Samsung’s stated model eligibility differs by feature, and availability can vary by region. Vascular Load and Antioxidant Index are described by Samsung as Labs previews.

How to check your watch’s update eligibility
- Identify your exact Galaxy Watch model and, where available, its model number.
- Check Samsung’s update history for that model and your region.
- Use the Galaxy Wearable app or the watch’s software-update settings to check for an update.
- Check Samsung’s feature requirements separately if you are looking for a particular One UI 8 Watch feature.
Samsung’s rollout plans and update records do not mean every model, carrier, and region receives an update at the same time. Confirm availability for your exact watch rather than relying on another model’s update entry.

Is the One UI 8 phone beta the same as the watch beta?
No. Samsung Developer’s One UI 8 phone beta announcement and Samsung Mobile Press’s One UI 8 Watch beta announcement describe separate programs for different devices.
Can every eligible watch use Running Coach and the health features?
