The Chopard Alpine Eagle Cadence 8HF is powered by the self-winding calibre 01.12-C, which Chopard specifies at 57,600 vibrations per hour, or 8 Hz. Its silicon escapement gives the watch its high-frequency designation; the rate is twice the 4 Hz specified for the standard Alpine Eagle 41 calibre 01.01-C. That difference describes the movement’s nominal oscillation rate, not a proven advantage in accuracy or durability.
What movement powers the Alpine Eagle Cadence 8HF?
The Cadence 8HF uses Chopard calibre 01.12-C, a self-winding mechanical movement with a silicon escapement. Chopard says it develops, produces and assembles the movement in its own workshops, and that it is COSC chronometer-certified. The official product page lists hours, minutes, seconds and date, plus a mechanism intended to prevent seconds-hand trembling. Chopard’s US product page gives the current specification for reference 298600-3005.
What does 8 Hz mean?
Chopard lists the calibre’s frequency as 57,600 vibrations per hour, equivalent to 8 Hz. In this context, hertz describes the movement’s oscillation frequency. The standard Alpine Eagle 41’s calibre 01.01-C is listed at 28,800 vibrations per hour, or 4 Hz, in Chopard’s 2023 catalogue. The Cadence therefore has twice the published nominal frequency of that standard model. Frequency alone does not establish that it keeps time more accurately, resists shocks better or lasts longer.

Chopard’s published specifications establish the movement’s stated frequency, construction and certification. They do not provide independent measured accuracy, long-term reliability or durability results for this specific watch. COSC certification is a stated credential; it should not be treated as evidence that the 8 Hz calibre is twice as accurate as a 4 Hz movement. A 2023 specialist article offers secondary technical context, but the model’s specifications are best checked against that article and Chopard’s primary sources rather than inferred performance claims.
