The 2021 Seiko Presage Style60 collection is worth considering if you want a Seiko with a clear vintage design lineage, several dial colours and a choice of movement families. It is a weaker case as a tool watch. Its dive-style bezel is a styling feature, not a claim to dive timing, and water-resistance, price and availability all depend on the exact reference and your region. Treat it as a style-led purchase and confirm the specific reference before you buy.
Where the design comes from
Seiko says the Style60’s design takes its inspiration from the Crown Chronograph, introduced in 1964. Seiko describes that original as Seiko’s and Japan’s first wristwatch with a stopwatch function, and as the start of Seiko’s chronograph wristwatch manufacturing. Seiko’s own wording is: “The Crown Chronograph was Seiko’s and Japan’s first wristwatch equipped with a stopwatch function.” (Seiko Watch Corporation)
The link is one of design cues, not function. Whether a given reference has a chronograph mechanism is a question for its own specification, not for the 1964 heritage.
The design details Seiko documents
Seiko’s collection description names the features that define the look:
#1 Best Overall
- Polished And Brushed Stainless Steel
- 40.8mm Case Diameter
- 60s Style Inspiration
- Perforated Leather Strap
- Box-shaped crystal
- Faceted hour indexes
- Sharp, angular hand designs
- Different finishes on the inner dial and the outer index area, which Seiko says improve legibility and give a warm vintage feel that shifts with the viewing angle
- A gently rounded case, slightly slanted inward, with mirror-polished lugs
These are manufacturer descriptions of design intent. Whether the case sits comfortably or the dial reads well in your light are questions that official copy cannot answer, so check them against multiple photographs and, if possible, a watch in hand.
Dial colours and lume
The collection is offered with black, brown, ivory, blue and green dials. Seiko lists faded-colour Lumibrite on selected references only: SRPG05, SRPG07, SRPL07, SRPL09, SSA425, SSA447, SSK011 and SSK013. Lume is therefore not a collection-wide feature, and you should confirm it for the exact reference you are considering.
The collection also adds a calendar function. Seiko notes that the original 1964 Crown Chronograph had no date window, so the date is a deliberate departure from its reference.

Model families and movements
The Style60 range is not one feature set. The official collection page assigns references to three movement families:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems| Family | References named on the collection page | Caliber | Feature set |
|---|---|---|---|
| Date | SRPG03, SRPG05 | 4R35 | Calendar window |
| Open-heart | SSA423, SSA425 | 4R39 | Open-heart dial layout |
| GMT | SSK009, SSK011, SSK013 | 4R34 | GMT function |
The 2021 launch announcement named SRPG03J1, SRPG05J1, SRPG07J1 and SRPG09J1 among the initial models. The collection page does not place SRPG07 or SRPG09 in the table above, so confirm their caliber on the reference’s official specification before assuming they share a family. Launch timing and pricing varied by region, so a 2021 launch date says little about what is on sale today.
Who the Style60 suits
The collection is most convincing for a buyer who wants a vintage-referenced Seiko and is comfortable choosing a family first. Its historical reference is specific rather than a generic retro label, and the range offers date, open-heart and GMT options, so you can match function to use. The buyer who wants a dive watch, or who needs a precise, documented water-resistance rating across the line, will find less here.

What may give buyers pause
The dive-style bezel
One public discussion raised the concern that the bezel does not function as a dive bezel. Appearance should not be taken as dive capability. Check the exact model’s official water-resistance and bezel specifications before relying on the watch in or near water.
Water resistance
A reader thread mentions 50 metres of water resistance. The material available does not establish that figure across the collection, or confidently for every model. Treat it as unconfirmed for any reference until you see it on that reference’s official specification.

Because the caliber changes by family, broad collection copy can mislead. A date model, an open-heart and a GMT differ in function, not just in dial layout.

What has not been verified
This assessment draws on Seiko’s published information, 2021 launch coverage and one review video description. It does not include hands-on wear, accuracy measurements or a value comparison against rival watches, so it cannot support claims about real-world comfort, finishing in person or long-term durability.

The only price in the material reviewed is A$825 for the SRPG03, cited in a review video description. That is a historical, Australia-specific figure from the period of that review and should not be read as today’s price. Pricing varied by region at launch, and no single global launch price is established. Check a current authorised Seiko retailer in your market for the exact reference, stock and warranty terms.
Quick Recap
Before you buy: a checklist
- Confirm the reference number (for example SRPG03 or SSK011), not just the collection name.
- Match the caliber to the family table above, then verify it on the official specification sheet.
- Confirm lume for that reference, since faded Lumibrite is listed only for selected models.
- Read the case size, crystal material, water resistance and strap specifications on the official sheet. These were not established in this assessment.
- Check current price, stock and warranty with an authorised dealer in your region.
