Fratello’s January 19, 2023 report described planned increases of about 5% for Omega and Grand Seiko, and increases already applied by Rolex and Tudor. The scale varied sharply: the article cited an Omega Speedmaster Professional price change from €7,100 to €7,500, while its Jaeger-LeCoultre example rose from €9,100 to €13,100—about 44% compared with April 2022. These are historical figures reported by Fratello, not current prices or a comprehensive industry survey.

What price increases did Fratello report?

Fratello’s article, published January 19, 2023, covered a mix of expected and already implemented price changes. The figures below reflect what that article reported at the time; it did not establish an official, comprehensive price list for every brand or model.

Brand or example Change reported by Fratello Status and date basis
Omega Speedmaster Professional €7,100 to €7,500 Fratello reported the €7,500 price would take effect February 1, 2023.
Omega Approximately 5% Fratello described an increase as planned for 2023; no broader model-by-model breakdown is established in the article.
Grand Seiko Approximately 5% Fratello described an increase as planned for 2023; no broader model-by-model breakdown is established in the article.
Rolex sports models Approximately 2% Fratello said prices had already risen by its January 19, 2023 publication date.
Tudor Increase reported; a percentage is not stated Fratello said prices had already risen by its January 19, 2023 publication date.
Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Duoface €9,100 to €13,100, about 44% Fratello compared the new price with the price paid by its colleague in April 2022.

Fratello characterized the range of increases it discussed as below 2% up to 43.9%. That range belongs to the examples in its article, not to an independently verified measure of the watch industry as a whole.

The Omega Speedmaster Professional: a dated €400 increase

Fratello said the Omega Speedmaster Professional would cost €7,500 from February 1, 2023, up from €7,100. The difference is €400, or roughly 5.6% based on those two figures. This is the specific price example in the article; it should not be treated as a current retail price or assumed to apply identically across markets, variants, or later years.

The striking example: Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Reverso Duoface

Fratello contrasted a €9,100 price paid for a Reverso Duoface in April 2022 with a later €13,100 price tag. The increase is €4,000, or approximately 44% against the earlier amount. Fratello presented this as a particularly sharp example, rather than evidence of a confirmed explanation for the change.

The article wondered whether the increase reflected a correction to a price that had previously been low or strong demand. Those were questions for discussion, not stated causes from Jaeger-LeCoultre or a named brand representative.

Retail prices and the secondary market were not moving in lockstep

Fratello said a quick look at pre-owned and gray-market listings showed a disconnect from new retail prices. Its example was that a pre-owned full-gold Reverso could be found for less than a new steel Reverso Monoface. This was the publication’s observation at the time, not a current market survey or a guarantee about prices for any particular watch today.

Price and availability are separate questions

For Rolex sports models, Fratello reported increases of about 2% while treating availability as a separate concern. A change in a listed price does not establish that a buyer could readily obtain the watch at that price. The article did not provide a measure of availability or establish what happened to resale prices after the reported changes.
