Tudor created Kenissi to oversee movement development and production, while Tudor says every watch is assembled and fully tested at its Le Locle manufacture. Kenissi also supplies movement expertise to other brands. Tudor’s Le Locle site is near a Rolex facility, but the available sources do not establish that Rolex makes Tudor watches or that the companies share production operations.
How Tudor’s manufacturing system developed
Tudor’s official history describes a gradual build-out of mechanical-movement capacity, followed by the creation of a company to manage that work and serve outside brands. Kenissi’s official history also outlines its later relationship with Chanel.
| Year | Development |
|---|---|
| 2010 | Tudor says it launched a project to build industrial capacity for mechanical movements. |
| 2015 | Tudor presented its first Manufacture Calibre at Baselworld, in variants used in two different watches. |
| 2016 | Tudor established Kenissi to oversee movement development and production and offer technical expertise to third-party brands. |
| 2018 | Kenissi says it formed an industrial alliance with Chanel, supplying a calibre for the new J12. |
| 2021 | Tudor’s Le Locle manufacture was completed after three years of construction. |
| March 2023 | Tudor says the Le Locle manufacture was officially inaugurated. |
These milestones describe Tudor’s stated industrial history; they do not by themselves establish the complete origin of every component in every Tudor watch. Kenissi’s history and Tudor’s manufacture page are the companies’ accounts of that development.
What Kenissi does—and what Tudor does at Le Locle
Kenissi is the movement-focused part of the system. Tudor says it created Kenissi to manage development and production of Tudor movements while making technical expertise available to other brands. Kenissi describes its current range as customizable, self-winding calibres derived from Tudor Manufacture Calibre families and developed and produced in Switzerland. That description applies to Kenissi’s movement range; it is not a complete bill of materials for every Tudor model.

Tudor assigns final watch assembly and full testing to its Le Locle manufacture. The brand states: “Every TUDOR watch is assembled and fully tested to TUDOR’s superior standards and at the brand’s watch Manufacture located in Le Locle, Switzerland.” This is Tudor’s own description, not an independent audit. Tudor also says the Le Locle facility is physically and visually connected to the neighboring Kenissi manufacture.
The division is useful to understand as movement development and manufacture on one side, and final watch assembly and testing on the other. The official descriptions do not map every component-level operation or identify every supplier, so they do not support a claim that every part of every Tudor movement is made entirely in-house.

Le Locle facility facts
- Tudor describes the manufacture as spanning four levels and 5,500 square metres (Tudor, page accessed 2026).
- The facility was completed in 2021 after three years of construction and officially inaugurated in March 2023, according to Tudor.
- Tudor says the site was selected near a Rolex facility inaugurated in 1970.
The proximity is a location fact, not evidence that Rolex manufactures Tudor watches or that the sites share production operations. Tudor identifies its own Le Locle manufacture as the place where Tudor watches are assembled and fully tested. Tudor’s facility description and Rolex’s account of its watchmaking system do not establish shared Tudor–Rolex production.
Which other brands have worked with Kenissi?
Kenissi’s official history names Breitling as its first industrial partner and describes the Chanel alliance as a movement-supply relationship for the J12. These examples show that Kenissi was designed to extend beyond Tudor, but an announcement or historical account is not proof that a relationship remains active today.

In a report published June 15, 2023, the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry said Tudor and Chanel were among Kenissi’s shareholders. It also listed Breitling, Norqain, Fortis, Bell & Ross, TAG Heuer and Ultramarine as clients at that time. The federation did not give shareholder percentages, and its dated client list should not be treated as a guaranteed current roster. Read the federation’s 2023 account.
Norqain’s February 2020 partnership announcement provides a specific dated example: it identified Kenissi NN20/1 and NN20/2 calibres for Norqain watches and stated a 70-hour power reserve for those calibres. That figure belongs to the two calibres described in that announcement; it is not a specification for every Kenissi movement. Norqain’s announcement is a product-specific, dated source.

What shared movement sourcing does—and does not—tell you
A Kenissi connection is useful context, but it is not enough to conclude that two watches are identical in performance or construction. A meaningful comparison has to identify the exact calibre and model, then check the functions, certification, stated power reserve and the date of the supplier relationship. Shared sourcing alone does not establish identical finishing, regulation, cases, quality control or overall watch performance.
- For a Tudor watch: check the reference and the calibre specified for that model; do not generalize from one Tudor Manufacture Calibre to the whole catalogue.
- For another Kenissi client: distinguish current product specifications from a dated partnership announcement or a historical client list.
- For “in-house” claims: read the wording narrowly. The companies describe Tudor Manufacture Calibres and Kenissi’s role, but the cited material does not provide a full component-by-component sourcing record for every watch.
How to interpret Tudor’s connection to Rolex
Tudor says it selected its Le Locle location near a Rolex facility inaugurated in 1970. That establishes geographic proximity. It does not establish that Rolex manufactures Tudor watches, that the two facilities share production operations, or that a particular Tudor calibre is made by Rolex. Tudor’s stated assembly and testing location is its own Le Locle manufacture, while Kenissi is identified as the movement-focused industrial entity.

The best-supported picture is therefore an evolving Swiss manufacturing network: Tudor developed mechanical-movement capacity, created Kenissi to oversee movement work and provide expertise to third parties, and uses its Le Locle manufacture for final assembly and full testing. Kenissi’s relationships with other brands broaden that network, but claims about current clients, ownership percentages or shared Rolex production require evidence beyond the dated and official accounts cited here.
