WHOOP MG is best for people who want a screenless, always-on tracker and specifically value its ECG and blood-pressure insights. Those features are tied to WHOOP Life, the brand’s highest-priced membership tier. If you mainly want WHOOP’s sleep, recovery, strain and coaching tools, WHOOP 5.0 with Peak is likely the more economical fit.
What WHOOP MG is—and what makes it different
WHOOP MG is a screenless wrist-worn tracker built around continuous wear and app-based feedback. It tracks sleep, recovery, strain and activity; its key hardware distinction from WHOOP 5.0 is an ECG-capable clasp. WHOOP associates MG’s ECG and Blood Pressure Insights with its Life membership, so the device and subscription should be considered together. WHOOP’s product explanation describes the membership features.
WHOOP says the 5.0 generation is 7% smaller than the previous design and offers 14+ days of battery life. Tom’s Guide lists WHOOP MG at 34.7 × 24 × 10.6 mm and 26.5 g, with water resistance up to 10 m. These are published specifications, not independent laboratory findings. In its review, Tom’s Guide’s reviewer found the tracker comfortable and flush on the wrist and reported roughly two weeks of use between charges. Tom’s Guide’s review provides its impressions and specifications.
There is no display on the band. You check metrics and coaching in the app, which suits a minimalist who wants to leave a watch face out of the daily routine—but not someone who expects wrist-based notifications, a glanceable screen or smartwatch controls.

What the ECG and Blood Pressure Insights actually do
ECG and Heart Screener
The MG clasp contains ECG electrodes, and WHOOP says its Heart Screener can help identify signs of atrial fibrillation (AFib); it also allows reports to be shared with a health provider. WHOOP says this medically regulated feature is not available in every region. Its product page says it is not intended for people under 22 or for users with known arrhythmias other than AFib, and is not recommended for people with a pacemaker, ICD or another implanted electronic device. Check availability and eligibility where you live, and discuss health concerns with a clinician rather than relying on a wearable reading. WHOOP’s feature and eligibility information sets out these limits.
Blood Pressure Insights
WHOOP’s Blood Pressure Insights are daily systolic and diastolic ranges or estimates—not continuous clinical measurements. To establish a personal baseline, a member enters readings taken with a blood-pressure cuff in the app. WHOOP labels the feature beta and says its estimates may change as it is updated. Its disclaimer is explicit: “Blood Pressure Insights is not a medical device and cannot diagnose or manage medical conditions.” WHOOP also says it does not provide medical advice and tells users not to delay or change care based on the feature. It is not a replacement for a validated cuff or professional care. WHOOP’s description and disclaimer explain the feature’s limits.

Tom’s Guide’s reviewer did not test Blood Pressure Insights because they did not have a cuff at home. That matters when weighing hands-on impressions: the feature’s practical usefulness was not established in that review.
WHOOP MG vs. WHOOP 5.0: Life or Peak?
The central buying choice is whether MG’s heart features justify paying for Life rather than using WHOOP 5.0 with Peak. Reviewers published the following annual prices in 2025 for their respective markets; these are not verified October 2026 checkout quotes, and local prices or plan terms may have changed.

What reviewers found in use
App and day-to-day experience
TechRadar’s reviewer wore WHOOP MG for 21 days, used it nearly constantly, tested ECG, built workouts, explored the app and compared it with an Apple Watch Ultra 2 on a hike. The review praised the app and the depth of its experience, but questioned whether the value justified Life’s annual cost. This is one reviewer’s assessment, not a universal verdict. Tom’s Guide also described a comfortable, low-profile fit and roughly two weeks of battery use. The reported experience supports the appeal of a tracker designed to stay on the wrist, but it does not mean every wearer will get the same battery life or comfort.
Clasp concern
TechRadar reported that the metal clasp separated while its reviewer was changing the band. Treat that as a reported incident from one review, not evidence that all MG clasps fail; it is nevertheless worth checking the clasp is secure when swapping bands.

Who should buy WHOOP MG?
- Consider MG with Life if you want a screenless tracker, value WHOOP’s ECG feature, are eligible to use it in your region, and accept the limits of Blood Pressure Insights.
- Consider WHOOP 5.0 with Peak if sleep, recovery, strain, activity and coaching are your priorities and the MG-only heart features are not worth the higher recurring price to you. Tom’s Guide likewise judged Peak a better fit for most people, but that is an editorial recommendation rather than a rule for every buyer.
- Choose a screen-equipped smartwatch instead if you want a display, GPS or broader smartwatch functions. The reviews cited here do not provide a standardized direct comparison of features or costs across smartwatches.
- Use a validated cuff for blood-pressure readings if you need direct measurements. WHOOP’s feature requires cuff readings to establish its baseline and is not a diagnostic tool.
There is no clinical or population outcome statistic in the cited material showing that WHOOP MG improves health outcomes. Its case is about tracking and presenting personal data, not proven disease prevention or treatment.
Compatibility and ownership details
Tom’s Guide reports that WHOOP 4.0 bands and its battery pack do not work with WHOOP 5.0 or MG. If you are upgrading from an older WHOOP, check accessory generation before reusing or buying bands and charging gear; previous-generation accessories may add replacement costs. Tom’s Guide’s review notes the compatibility limitation.
