The TUDOR Black Bay Chrono Flamingo Blue makes one conspicuous choice: a vivid turquoise dial set against black chronograph counters. That color changes the watch’s first impression without replacing its familiar sports-chronograph design or its established technical specification. Whether that kind of visibility appeals is personal; the case for boldness here is that a watch can express more through a single design decision than through an entirely new silhouette.
What “Flamingo Blue” means
“Flamingo Blue” is TUDOR’s name for the turquoise dial on the Black Bay Chrono reference M79360N-0024. The black counters sharpen the contrast, while the fixed steel bezel, black anodised-aluminum insert and tachymetric scale keep the dial within familiar chronograph territory. TUDOR introduced the model on January 17, 2025, describing the blue-flamingo name as a playful incongruity and the color as one made to stand out. TUDOR’s launch announcement presents that as the brand’s intention, not as a claim about how every wearer will respond.
The effect is a useful tension: the color is unusual, but the watch does not ask the wearer to learn an unfamiliar form. It remains a steel, two-counter sports chronograph. Boldness, in this instance, comes from making the most visible part of an established design harder to overlook.
Why a vivid dial can matter
A watch is both an instrument and a visible object. A restrained dial can recede into an outfit; a saturated one can become its focal point. The Flamingo Blue’s dial makes that choice explicit. It may suit someone who wants a recognizable chronograph with a more expressive face, while someone seeking a low-profile or conventionally understated watch may prefer another colorway. Those are style judgments, not measurable outcomes or universal preferences.
#1 Best Overall
The color also gives the Black Bay Chrono a particular character without changing its basic proposition. The model’s case, chronograph movement, water resistance and bracelet remain central to what it is; the dial changes how that proposition is presented. That balance—familiar structure, more daring surface—is the reason the watch makes a stronger argument for boldness than a color novelty detached from a coherent design.
Where it sits in the Black Bay Chrono story
TUDOR frames the Black Bay Chrono as a meeting of its chronograph history, which it associates with the Oysterdate of 1970 and motorsports, and its professional diver-watch tradition, which the brand says it has been developing since 1954. That is TUDOR’s account of its heritage. The Flamingo Blue does not alter that history; it gives the sports chronograph a distinctly contemporary visual accent.

It followed the Black Bay Chrono “Pink,” introduced in 2024. TUDOR described that edition as deliberately daring and said it might not be for everyone. The shared thread is a willingness to use an unexpected dial color, though the launch context alone does not establish how broadly either edition appealed to buyers. TUDOR’s 2024 Pink announcement provides the brand’s own rationale.
What the specifications preserve
The color is the headline, but the official specifications show a conventional, fully equipped sports chronograph underneath it. TUDOR’s press sheet lists a 41 mm stainless-steel case, a self-winding Manufacture Calibre MT5813 chronograph with column wheel and vertical clutch, approximately 70 hours of power reserve, COSC chronometer certification and 200 m water resistance. The product page lists a 14.4 mm case thickness and 22 mm lug width. The five-link steel bracelet closes with TUDOR’s T-fit rapid-adjustment clasp.

Who may appreciate the choice
The Flamingo Blue is most compelling for a buyer who likes the Black Bay Chrono’s familiar proportions and chronograph layout but wants the dial to do more than blend in. It makes less sense for someone whose priority is visual discretion. The right question is not whether boldness is objectively better, but whether a prominent color is the kind of expression the wearer wants to see—and wear—regularly.
