In Men’s Journal’s October 2, 2026 review, Gear Writer Justin Park reports that the complete kit weighs 171 grams and includes tools for bolts, chains, tires, valves, spokes and limited brake adjustments. Its broad coverage may suit longer mountain-bike or gravel rides, but riders still need to bring compatible consumables—and compact tools cannot provide the leverage of full-size shop tools.
What the Wolf Tooth 8-Bit Kit Two includes
Park describes the 8-Bit Kit Two as three slim tools that connect magnetically. Together, they measure 146 x 20 x 28 mm and weigh 171 grams (about 6 ounces), according to the review. The tool set is intended to address a range of common roadside or trailside problems rather than replace a home repair setup.
Fasteners and adjustments
- Hex bits: 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5 and 6 mm.
- An 8 mm swiveling driver, plus T10 and T25 Torx-compatible bits.
- Flathead and Phillips bits.
- A spoke wrench and a rotor-truing slot for limited disc-brake correction.
- An 8 mm hydraulic-brake flare wrench.
Chain, tire and valve work
- A chain breaker and master-link pliers, with storage for a spare master link.
- A tire lever and a tire-plug inserter with plug storage.
- A valve-core wrench, valve-stem pliers and a valve-cleaning rasp.
Utility knife

What it can—and cannot—do on a ride
The tool coverage targets mechanical issues a rider might encounter away from a workbench: tightening compatible fasteners, addressing a chain problem, removing a tire, plugging a tubeless puncture, working on a valve, adjusting a spoke or making a limited rotor correction. Those functions make the kit a more comprehensive carry than a small wrench-only multitool, but they are not a guarantee that it can resolve every breakdown.

Park’s assessment is that compact tools offer less leverage and ergonomic comfort than full-size tools, and that individual drivers have maximum torque limits. A stubborn fastener or repair requiring greater leverage may call for proper shop tools or roadside assistance. Treat the kit as a way to handle selected common problems, not as a portable replacement for a workshop.
What you need to supply separately
The kit does not include a master link matched to your chain, tire plugs or a spare valve core. Choose a replacement master link for your chain’s make and compatibility requirements rather than assuming one link fits every drivetrain. Riders planning to use the plug or valve tools should pack the relevant consumables before setting out.

Who may want to carry the full kit
Park says he carries the complete kit on longer mountain-bike or gravel rides, where a mechanical issue could mean a long walk back, and may take only the Pack Pliers component on shorter rides. The practical tradeoff is breadth versus carried weight: the complete kit’s reported 171 grams buys several kinds of repair capability, but some riders will prefer a smaller selection for shorter or less remote outings.
