The Yema LED Kavinsky stands out for its angular case, integrated bracelet and red side button—but that button is essential: the LED time display illuminates on demand rather than remaining visible. In two March 2022 hands-on reviews, the watch’s design and bracelet drew praise, while the extra step to read the time and the legibility of inactive display segments drew reservations. Those reviews describe the watch as it was then; they do not establish today’s price or availability.
What is the Yema LED Kavinsky?
It is a collaboration between French watchmaker Yema and electronic musician Kavinsky, built around a digital LED display and a design related to Yema’s earlier LED watch. In Fratello’s March 18, 2022 review, Yema PR manager Antoine Aurelie said Kavinsky’s team approached the brand after seeing its older LED watches. The red button was intended as a direct reference to Kavinsky, according to Aurelie’s account in Fratello’s review.
The design keeps the earlier watch’s broad visual language but adds two groups of seven shallow grooves across the case front and a sportier cut to the lugs, as Fratello’s Tomas Rosputinsky described it. He preferred the matte-black version; he found the steel version appeared chunkier, although the two shared dimensions. Wah So Shiok’s March 19, 2022 review also singled out the angular case finishing and bracelet.
How the on-demand display works
The display is dark until the wearer presses the red side button. The reviews describe button-activated readouts for time, date and seconds; Wah So Shiok reports that the watch can show hours, minutes in 12- or 24-hour formats, seconds, date, month and year. These are details reported by that 2022 review, rather than a current manufacturer specification sheet.

This interaction is the watch’s defining practical compromise. It gives the face a clean, almost blank appearance when the display is off, but checking the time takes a deliberate press. Rosputinsky found this inconvenient when in a hurry. He also found the illuminated inactive digit segments more distracting, and the display less legible, than on Yema’s 2020 LED model. He suggested shading or battery condition might explain the difference; the review did not establish a cause.
Case, fit and bracelet
Wah So Shiok reports a 35.5 mm case diameter and 42 mm lug-to-lug measurement, and says the watch fit the reviewer’s 7-inch wrist well. Those dimensions and the fit observation come from that individual review, not a current official product page or a universal fit test.

Fratello’s reviewer, who said he wore two examples for about two weeks, preferred the Kavinsky bracelet to the bracelet on the 2020 Yema LED. He described it as lighter and more flexible, and praised its clasp. These are personal comparisons from that review, not controlled measurements. If choosing between the matte-black and steel versions, the most useful distinction in the available observations is visual: Rosputinsky thought the steel one looked chunkier despite the shared dimensions.
What the published specifications do—and do not—establish
Wah So Shiok’s 2022 review describes a mineral crystal, 50 m water resistance and what it calls a proprietary LED-quartz movement, while noting that movement details were limited. Treat these as secondary-review claims, not verified current specifications. A 50 m rating alone does not establish which water activities are appropriate, so check current manufacturer guidance for the exact watch before exposing it to water.

The reviews do not establish the battery type or life, service requirements, warranty terms, current production status or present-day retail and resale availability. They also do not provide a consistent test against current alternatives.
2022 launch prices and collector edition
Fratello recorded launch-era prices of €195 ex VAT for the regular limited edition and €225 ex VAT for a 200-piece collector edition supplied with signed vinyl. These are historical 2022 figures, not current prices or evidence that either edition remains available. Whether the vinyl adds value is a matter of personal interest in Kavinsky memorabilia, not a demonstrated difference in the watch’s operation.

Is the Yema LED Kavinsky a good fit?
It is most compelling for someone who values an unusual, intentionally expressive design and likes the ritual of activating a time display. The reviews offer favorable impressions of its angular finishing and bracelet, but also identify a real usability trade-off: the time is not continuously visible, and one reviewer preferred the earlier model’s display legibility.
If you are considering one now, verify the exact edition, condition, seller and current price before buying. The two available hands-on reviews were published in March 2022 and do not confirm current stock or listings.
