For most buyers it is a good-value candidate, provided three things check out: which generation you are buying (V1 or V2), whether a caller GMT matches how you use a second time zone, and whether a listing is still available. The two independent reviews cited here are from 2019 and 2020 and are positive about size and finishing, but both are personal impressions. The official collection page showed most models sold out when it was checked for this article.
Which version are you looking at?
Zelos has sold at least two generations under the Horizons GMT name, and they differ in case thickness, bezel click count and the box they ship with. Confirm the generation before comparing any figure, price or strap. The table uses Zelos’s own product listings: the Horizons GMT collection page for the V2 and the original model description.
| Feature | Original Horizons GMT (V1) | Horizons GMT V2 |
|---|---|---|
| Case diameter | 40 mm | 40 mm |
| Lug width | 20 mm | 20 mm |
| Lug-to-lug | 45 mm | 45 mm |
| Bezel diameter | Not stated in the original listing | 38.5 mm |
| Case thickness, excluding crystal | 12 mm | 11 mm |
| GMT bezel | Bidirectional, 60 clicks; insert material varies by model | Bidirectional, 48 clicks on ball bearings, lumed sapphire insert |
| Crystal | Box sapphire | Sapphire box crystal rising 2.5 mm above the bezel |
| Caseback | Sapphire caseback | Sapphire display back |
| Movement | ETA 2893 Elaboré with custom rotor | ETA 2893 Elaboré with custom rotor |
| Water resistance | 200 m | 200 m |
| Case material | 316L stainless steel or CUSN8 bronze, depending on variant | 316L stainless steel |
| Crown | Not stated in the original listing | Screw-down, signed |
| Dial | Varies by variant; not detailed in the original listing | Textured sunburst with C3 X1 Super-LumiNova; several colors and meteorite dials listed |
The fastest way to tell the two apart is the bezel. Sixty clicks points to the original; 48 points to the V2. The click spacing is 6 degrees on the original and 7.5 degrees on the V2, which is the difference a wearer will notice when rotating the bezel. The caseback is the second check: sapphire caseback on the original, sapphire display back on the V2.
Caller GMT, not a true GMT
Both generations use the ETA 2893 Elaboré movement. Worn & Wound’s Ed Jelley, in his hands-on review of the Ice variant published July 22, 2020, describes this movement as a caller GMT. In that design the GMT hand jumps in hourly increments to show a second time zone, while the local hour hand is not the element that moves. Jelley contrasts this with “true” GMT movements, which jump the local hour hand.

#1 Best Overall
- Quartz GMT Movement - When used in conjunction with the black and blue rotating bezel, the two-blue and white triangle GMT hand can be used to track a second time zone.
- Stainless-steel - The stainless-steel case and bracelet are resistant to corrosion, rust, and daily wear and tear.
- Date Window - Easily track the date in a dedicated window beside 3 o'clock.
- Enhanced Visibility - Luminant hands ensure readability in low-light conditions.
Caller GMT versus true GMT
- Caller GMT (Horizons GMT): the GMT hand steps by the hour and reads a second time zone at a glance. It suits travellers who keep home time and need a reference clock for one or two fixed offsets.
- True GMT: the local hour hand can be moved independently. It suits people who change their local time often, for example when they cross time zones on a regular schedule or work across several offices.
If frequent local-time changes are the priority, a true GMT is the more practical movement. If the main need is a second time zone shown at a glance, a caller GMT does the job.
Movement figures reported by reviewers
Worn & Wound reports 21 jewels, a 42-hour power reserve and 28,800 beats per hour for the ETA movement in its 2020 review. These are the reviewer’s figures for that watch, not a new manufacturer specification, and the review does not describe independent timing tests.
Size and comfort on the wrist
Both generations measure 40 mm across with 20 mm lugs and 45 mm lug-to-lug. The real difference is thickness: 12 mm on the original and 11 mm on the V2, both excluding crystal. The V2’s box crystal rises 2.5 mm above the bezel. Worn & Wound’s specification panel lists an overall thickness of 13.5 mm for the Ice watch; that figure is measured differently and the review excerpt does not tie it to a generation, so treat it as the measurement for that specific watch.

What the reviewers said after wearing it
- Worn & Wound (Ed Jelley, July 22, 2020, Ice variant): the case is moderately sized and comfortable, and the bracelet’s finishing and adjustment earned praise.
- WatchReport (Don Evans, May 25, 2019, original model): the reviewer praised the bezel feel and the lume, but found the supplied Horween leather and Tropic rubber straps short for his wrist.
These are individual impressions, not measured outcomes for every wrist. The figure to check first is the 45 mm lug-to-lug length: on narrower wrists, a 45 mm span can look and feel long, and the strap length supplied with your watch matters as much as the case size.

1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesDial, bezel and legibility
The dial is the main subjective trade-off. Jelley found the colorful Ice dial more fun than maximally legible, and he warns that readers who put legibility first may prefer a different dial. The V2 uses a textured sunburst dial with C3 X1 Super-LumiNova, and the collection lists several colors and meteorite dials. Meteorite variants carry higher listed prices.
The GMT bezel is bidirectional, which matters for timing a second zone or an elapsed interval in either direction. On the V2 it turns on ball bearings and has a lumed sapphire insert. WatchReport’s reviewer singled out the bezel feel on the original as a highlight.

Availability
Most entries on the collection page were marked sold out when it was checked, and the V2 Teal product page also showed sold out. Zelos states, “We do frequent drops of new colorways and models.” That describes its release pattern. It does not promise a restock of any particular Horizons GMT, so confirm stock with Zelos before planning a purchase.
Warranty and returns
The V2 Teal page lists a one-year international warranty covering manufacturing or movement defects under normal use. It also lists a seven-day return window for brand-new, unworn watches, with return shipping paid by the buyer. These terms appear on one product page; confirm them for your exact model and destination, because policies can change.
Checks before buying a secondhand watch
- Count the bezel clicks: 60 indicates the original, 48 indicates the V2.
- Look at the caseback: sapphire caseback for the original, sapphire display back for the V2.
- Confirm the case metal: 316L stainless steel is the only metal listed for the V2; the original was offered in 316L steel or CUSN8 bronze.
- Check the crown on a V2: the listing describes it as screw-down and signed.
- Match the straps and bracelet against a listed package. A missing Horween leather strap or bracelet should be reflected in the price.
Who the Horizons GMT suits
It is a good fit if you want a 40 mm GMT with sapphire crystal, a 200 m rating and a bidirectional bezel; if you are comfortable with a caller GMT; and if a bolder dial is part of the appeal. Jelley concludes that “Zelos’ Horizons GMT is a fun watch that would make an ideal companion on your summer vacation.” That is a reviewer’s opinion of the Ice watch, and it is the strongest praise in the two reviews.

Look elsewhere if you need a true GMT for frequent local-time changes, if legibility is the first priority, if your wrist is narrow and a 45 mm lug-to-lug feels too long, or if you cannot confirm a current listing and warranty. WatchReport’s 2019 comparison with the Halios is an explicitly subjective opinion, and neither review ranks the Horizons GMT above its rivals, so this article does not either.
The official collection remains the place to confirm the current model, price and stock.
