The selections span technical milestones, distinctive designs and watches with visible condition concerns. They were the journalist’s picks from Antiquorum’s Geneva catalogue—not the auction house’s ranked top lots—and the estimates were not sale prices.
Antiquorum’s Important Modern & Vintage Timepieces auction took place in Geneva on November 8–9, 2025. The catalogue contained more than 600 lots, according to Sheldrake’s preview. His ten selections were presented in no particular order. The auction house later reported a total of CHF 7,104,503 for the sale; its own top-lots list is separate from the watches below.
The lot descriptions, estimates and condition observations that follow reflect the pre-sale feature. They are not substitutes for lot-specific condition reports or inspection.
The ten watches Sheldrake selected
-
Lot 129 — Urban Jürgensen ref. 8
Estimate: CHF 30,000–50,000. Sheldrake points to the brand’s history under Peter Baumberger and the mechanical revival associated with Derek Pratt. The watch combines a Frederique Piguet movement, guilloché dial and rose-gold case, as described in the feature.

-
Lot 134 — Heuer Monaco ref. 1133
Estimate: CHF 2,000–4,000. Its square case, blue dial and white subdials make it a recognizable expression of the Monaco design. The feature connects the model with Calibre 11 and the early automatic-chronograph era, while warning that this example might need work to remain in working order.
-
Lot 30 — Omega Seamaster 300
Estimate: CHF 2,000–4,000. Sheldrake places the Seamaster 300 alongside the Speedmaster and Railmaster in Omega’s 1957 professional-watch group. On this example, he notes missing lume on the minute hand and lugs that appear rounded.

Tissot Le Locle, Swiss Automatic, 39.30mm, Blue Dial, Men’s Watch- Case Size: 39.30 mm, Band Width: 19 mm, Case Thickness: 9.75 mm
- Automatic movement, leather strap, Roman dial type, Date

-
Lot 287 — Patek Philippe Nautilus ref. 3700/1
Estimate: CHF 70,000–120,000. The ref. 3700/1 is presented as the original Nautilus: a porthole-inspired design that helped establish the stainless-steel luxury-sport watch. Sheldrake calls attention to this example’s dial condition and cautions against paying a premium for it. His remark that “these originals will never go out of style” is an opinion about the model, not a claim about future prices.
-
Lot 576 — Audemars Piguet Royal Oak “Rectangular” ref. 6009
Estimate: CHF 12,000–25,000. This less familiar squared form caught Sheldrake’s eye as a distinctive interpretation of the Royal Oak design.

How the selection compares
The ten picks do not form a single category. They range from divers and chronographs to a dress-oriented Omega, an independent-watchmaking example, a luxury-sport watch and an unusual pocket watch.
| What stands out | Examples in the selection | Estimate in the preview |
|---|---|---|
| Automatic-chronograph history | Heuer Monaco ref. 1133; Zenith El Primero ref. SP 1301 | CHF 2,000–4,000 each |
| Distinctive design or material | Royal Oak “Rectangular” ref. 6009; aluminium Vacheron Constantin pocket watch | CHF 12,000–25,000; CHF 3,500–5,500 |
| Technical or brand history | Omega De Ville Co-Axial; Urban Jürgensen ref. 8 | CHF 4,000–6,000; CHF 30,000–50,000 |
| Condition concerns specifically noted | Monaco, Seamaster 300, Nautilus, Submariner, El Primero and Navitimer | Varies by lot |
Among these ten estimates, the low end is CHF 2,000–4,000, shared by three picks; the highest is CHF 70,000–120,000 for the Nautilus. These are the estimates published before the sale, not hammer prices or realized prices.
What to verify before buying an auction watch
The feature’s observations are useful starting points, especially where it mentions missing or potentially reapplied lume, rounded or polished lugs, dial condition, or possible mechanical work. They are not a complete assessment of any lot. A buyer should consult the auction house’s lot-specific documentation and sale conditions, and establish the watch’s provenance, authenticity, condition and any likely restoration needs before bidding.
