The 2017 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) awarded 15 watch prizes. Chopard’s L.U.C Full Strike took the top honor, the Aiguille d’Or Grand Prix. Here are all 15 winning watches in the official prize list’s order, with the distinction each received.

The official GPHG list names 15 winning watches. The separate Special Jury Prize recognized Suzanne Rohr and Anita Porchet; it was not an additional watch award.

What the 2017 awards mean
Aiguille d’Or: the overall winner
The GPHG’s 2017 rules describe the Aiguille d’Or as the best overall watch among all categories and the most prestigious award. Chopard’s L.U.C Full Strike won it. The award is the clearest answer if you want to know which watch the jury selected as the year’s top overall winner.

Category prizes: distinctions, not a single ranking
The remaining awards recognize watches across different intended styles and areas of watchmaking. The 2017 rules define the Sports category around functions, materials and design suited to physical activity. They set the Petite Aiguille category for watches with a retail price below CHF 8,000 at the time. These are historical category definitions, not statements about today’s prices, specifications or availability. See the 2017 GPHG rules for the contemporaneous definitions.
The category labels help explain why the list spans overall distinction, complications, travel time, sport, jewellery and artistic craft. They do not establish a technical comparison among every model: the official materials do not provide a consistent model-by-model specification set for ranking the watches against one another.

How many watches competed?
In a press release dated 31 October 2017, the Fondation du Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève reported 72 preselected watches and 15 prizes. Those figures describe the preselected watches competing for the Aiguille d’Or or one of the 15 prizes; they do not count every watch submitted or made that year. The figures come from the GPHG’s 31 October 2017 press release.

The prize list is a useful way to identify award-winning models, including Tudor’s Black Bay Chrono, the 2017 Petite Aiguille winner. The award’s historical price threshold does not establish the watch’s current price. The 2017 rules scheduled the 17th prize-giving ceremony for 8 November 2017 at the Théâtre du Léman in Geneva. The winners above are taken from the official prize list rather than inferred from that earlier schedule.
