What changed from the 116619LB?
The 126619LB changed more than the dial. Hodinkee’s 2020 hands-on coverage describes the new model as replacing the 116619LB, commonly called “Smurf.” The older watch had a blue dial to match its blue bezel; the 126619LB keeps the blue bezel but uses black for the dial. The result is a less uniformly blue appearance.

How does the bezel and bracelet work?
Timing elapsed minutes
The bezel rotates only counterclockwise, so a diver can align its luminous zero marker with the minute hand to track elapsed time. An accidental turn in that direction makes the elapsed-time indication shorter, not longer. Rolex describes the bezel as a 60-minute scale for underwater timing. Its Submariner collection overview says the ceramic insert is highly scratch-resistant, UV-stable and corrosion-resistant.

Adjusting the bracelet
The Oyster bracelet’s Glidelock extension lets the wearer make fine length adjustments without tools: Rolex specifies 10 notches for approximately 20 mm of total adjustment, in roughly 2 mm steps. The Oysterlock clasp is the safety clasp; Glidelock is the extension mechanism.
