The 2021 Rolex Explorer II reference 226570 is a 42 mm Oystersteel sports watch with a fixed 24-hour bezel, an independently adjustable local-time hour hand and Rolex calibre 3285. It comes with either a white or black dial. Rolex’s US product pages currently list both at $10,600; that is the displayed US price as of October 8, 2026, not a confirmed 2021 launch price.
What changed with the 2021 Explorer II?
Reference 226570 was introduced in the 2021 update of the Explorer II line. Rolex says the case and bracelet were redesigned, describing the work as an improvement to the watch’s aesthetic balance and lines. The available evidence establishes that redesign but does not support a precise dimension-by-dimension comparison with the preceding 216570.
The 226570 retains the Explorer II’s core format: a 42 mm Oystersteel case, fixed graduated 24-hour bezel and an additional 24-hour hand. It is a GMT-style watch designed to display another time zone and help distinguish day from night, rather than a watch with a rotating timing bezel.
How the 226570 works
Independent local-time adjustment
Rolex calibre 3285 is a self-winding mechanical movement with an independently adjustable hour hand. The wearer can move the local-time hour hand without changing the other time display, a practical arrangement when changing time zones.

24-hour hand and fixed bezel
The orange 24-hour hand makes one circuit of the dial in 24 hours and works with the bezel’s fixed 24-hour scale to show a second time zone. Because the bezel does not rotate, it is not used to set elapsed time in the manner of a rotating dive or timing bezel. The 24-hour display can also help the wearer tell whether the indicated second-zone time is day or night.

White dial or black dial?
The two versions share the 226570’s case, movement and basic functions. The choice is primarily visual: the white and black dial treatments offer different contrast and character, and preference is subjective. Rolex’s US product pages show the same current displayed price for both versions. Check the relevant Rolex page or retailer in your country for local pricing and availability.

Price: current US listing versus the 2021 figure
Rolex’s US product pages display $10,600 USD for the white- and black-dial 226570 as accessed October 8, 2026. This is a current displayed US price, not evidence of the watch’s original 2021 retail price, and it can change. Rolex directs buyers to official retailers; its product pages do not establish live stock.
A WatchTime Germany video listing from 2021 shows €7,950. That is a period figure from a secondary source; the available information does not establish it as Rolex’s official launch price. The two amounts therefore should not be treated as a like-for-like price comparison.

Where it sits among Explorer II alternatives
The 226570’s defining distinction is its fixed 24-hour bezel and independently adjustable hour hand, paired with a second-zone display. That is enough to explain its operating concept, but not to make a sourced, complete specification comparison with the GMT-Master II or the 216570. A fair comparison should account for bezel function, setting method, case and bracelet design, movement, wrist fit and local market price; comparable figures for those watches are not established here.
